I was on a computer at the library the day I learned he had passed. I saw the ‘Remembering Neil Peart…’ headline and couldn’t believe what I had just looked at. I felt my whole body just kinda sink. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever forget that day. Today I was talking to a lady I met at work. She’s our librarian at the facility, and we started talking about Rush. She said she cried for days after Neil had died. It must be so touching to imagine that you can have such an impact on people you’ve never met in your life. And that goes for Alex and Geddy too. It must be what greatness is. Neil, you will always be missed and loved.

RIP, Neil Peart! I remember buying the "Fly by Night" 8-track in 1975! I was instantly blown away by this new, 22-year-old drummer! Neil was a true genius! To imagine the amount of grief he went through when he lost his daughter and wife within a year is heartbreaking! He hopped on his motorcycle and began his healing process. 58,000 miles later, he was ready to get behind his kit once again. Neil was a selfless gift to all of us for so long. Thank you God!

Oh man....I haven't even thought about it for years. See that guitar Neil is playing @1:00? that's Alex's Howard Roberts Fusion. I installed that chrome plate between the bridge and tailpiece in the 90s. Just a cover-up of a route for when Alex had a Kahler bridge installed in that guitar.

They had a good run, maybe its time to hang it up.....

I saw them nine times. Unfortunately, circumstances being what they are, I didn't get to make it a perfect ten. But at least I was able to see R40.

1977 Denver, Colorado auditorium arena. Walking backstage after Uriah Heep played turning to my right side and seeing Neil's slingerland concert Tom's sitting, waiting to be carried on stage by his tech. At that moment I was within reach of tapping on his concert Tom's! A big roadie looked at me and I didn't touch the professor's drums. A few seconds later they were carried away to center stage. Just one vivid memory from Rush "1977" Neil was the best! Thanks Rush for making memories!

Only thing you missed was that interview where Geddy and Alex describe auditioning Neil in 74--how they looked at each other and said, "Who is this lunatic? We want him!", right there, within the first two minutes. The first time I saw them was two years later, on December 16, 1976, at Chicago's acoustically perfect Auditorium Theater, on their first tour as the headliner. While I've seen them many times since, that show--every song--has stayed with me to this day. When I finally made it home that night, I was so blown away, so high from the experience that I floated for days and days with a silly smile on my face...

I haven't been a fan for nearly as long as many of you, but after hearing songs like Subdivisions and The Enemy Within I fell in love with their music, and more importantly, the lyrics. As a drummer I look up to Neil, and I deeply relate to a lot of his lyrics and ideologies. Rest easy, Neil.

The last memory you put was fitting, and perfect! That always brings tears to my eyes 😪 that was basically the last time we saw Neil and it’ll always hurt 😔 what that man did for so many of us and never knew it… a person we never met but probably felt like we knew personally for a lifetime for all the lyrics he gave us and amazing drum solos… yes he wasn’t a long awaited friend and we also weren’t for him but he was a “stranger” who helped us thru many tough times And still does to this day… RIP Neil Peart

At 7:25, I love Neil's explanation regarding similarities in writing and drumming composition. What an interesting, thoughtful, analytical person he was; clearly evidenced by his masterful, intricate, drumming style. What a vast gift he and the whole band left for us fans. I'm still profoundly saddened by his death.

Can’t watch without tearing up. I started with them when they first began. I feel as though I have shared much with them. From driving around Ontario to see them young. When their albums began to become more critical. Both Neil and I have lost a daughter, and mine loved Rush and their videos. Hard to watch. Love you Neil. Please look out for my kid.
