They didn't even START to turn left. I assume everyone was fixated on the cones on the right and didn't even notice a lane had opened up on the left. And they were all way too close together because people slowed for the construction zone and that car coming from the left prevented them from thinking that the left was still an option. Most people just panic. I had to back up once to avoid a construction vehicle about to back into me, and even though it was very very slow, the car behind me just sat there. Like reverse wasn't a feature their car had. They should teach driving better. And don't get be started on drivers in southern states when it snows! One has to manuever around all the cars spinning out in every direction. And it only snowed 1/4 inch! How is it even possible to lose control is beyond me. No ice, a dusting of snow, everybody panic.

@Woz Berry True, from a distance it might not seem like much speed is involved but when a car slams their brakes in front of you (or suddenly halts from colliding with something else like in this video) it crawls up on you extremely quick. Sometimes even hard braking won't prevent you from slamming into them, or you fear skidding hence you don't floor the brakes either.

I watch 2 to 3 cars ahead ALL THE TIME. Comes from decades of driving in San Antonio, TX.

They've been saying to do that for 40 years, and people have only got worse, MUCH worse. So, trying to tell them that does not help at all. Unfortunately, as long as they continue to allow idiots to drive, and don't implement strict and long term driver training (similar to pilot training), and very severe penalties for traffic violations, (like they do in Europe), then nothing is going to change.

Do you really think these stupid ass teenagers listen to the teacher in Driver's Ed class? Hell no! This type of stuff has been going on since I was in school back in the '70's. Nobody listens, nobody learns a damn thing. Then they get in a car, go wild and crash and die. I've seen it so many times it's pathetic. All teenagers should be sent to military school for at least six years, and provided with very strict, goal-oriented training. The ones that fail shall become property of the State, and sent to work camps in the desert of Arizona, where they will be used for picking up garbage, baking bricks, etc.
