Nothing says rich and exclusive like having an island all for yourself. Celebrities spend their riches buying the most exclusive things money can buy. Buying your own private island is definitely a sign that you’ve made it. That’s why only the top echelon of celebrities, the A-listers, are owning exotic islands. Imagine sailing away to the middle of the ocean and stretching out on your own private sandy beach, cocktail in hand?! It’s definitely most people’s idea of paradise!
A popular private island spot is the Bahamas. Many celebrities own private islands in the Bahamas. Jay-Z bought a private island in the Florida Keys for Beyonce’s 29th birthday in 2010. It reportedly cost over $18 million. Rumor has it the duo picked up Stranger's Cay, which was listed on Vladi Private Islands in the Bahamas for $2 million. Naomi Campbell made headlines when her ex-boyfriend, billionaire Vladislav Doronin, surprised her with an eco-house on Turkey's Cleopatra Island. Julia Roberts bought an island in the Bahamas worth more than $6 million. When the coronavirus pandemic began, Lenny Kravitz decided to cancel his world tour and return to his home on the island Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Where he described every day as perfect. And one of his daily beauty routines is exfoliating his skin with the sand from his private island.

If I were a rich celebrity, I would certainly like a private island, a sanctuary where I could go to get away from the glitz, perhaps to commune with nature and God, or to spend time with my immediate family without distractions. It amuses me that so many of these private islands have massive mansions to accommodate guests and staff, as well as plenty of extra houses meant to be occupied by the same kind of people that celebs hang out with in NY or LA. Not much of an escape or spiritual retreat, is it?
