reminder to everyone that you can get books from the libraries! that way you can read it first (for free!) without making a commitment in case you don’t like it :) then you can buy it afterwards to reread once you have decided you really like it. libraries are so so important to have in communities and not enough people take advantage of their resources! support your local libraries so they can get more funding and stay open!

I always go to my library first, but unfortunately, they usually have less than a quarter of the books I want to read. Fun fact though, libraries usually let you request book orders if they don't have something you want to read!

Incredibly important reminder! I like to read my books first just to know if I love them enough to want to read them again before I commit to buying it. On my 20th time borrowing all ten volumes of Strobe Edge from the library I was like, "maybe I should just buy the series."

Thank you for saying this! I have recently started borrowing books from our local library. Yes there is a bit of a wait for the book to become available, but I don't mind. Also this allows me to see if I really want to buy the book and add it to my collection. If I love the book I will buy it!

another rec for atla fans - READ THE KYOSHI BOOKS. It’s definitely not the same vibes as atla; its target audience is definitely a little older but they aged it SUCCESSFULLY (unlike a recent adaption). I loved these books, and I think this world expansion was incredible. Definitely satisfied my craving for more stories in this world.

Recommendation for those who want something similar to ✨️Six of Crows! ✨️ The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. Genre bending fantasy. There are many similarities to Six of Crows. A cool mastermind main character and his squad doing very complicated impossible seeming criminal stuff in a lowkey f*cked up city that has canals, illnesses and gangs. Murder, sarcasm, found family and likable characters. Really amazing book but I feel like it is even more harsh and intense with your feelings than Six of Crows. It will hurt you. I lowkey think Six of Crows is a bit inspired by The Lies of Locke Lamora since it was published a lot earlier but who knows. I love the Six of Crows duology but Lies of Locke Lamora is BETTER (at least in my opinion). Hope y'all have fun in case you pick it up💕

For the Six Of Crows recommendation I would add The Gentleman Bastards ! (It's for adults and can be quite violent be careful). It's very different but yet very similar. It kinda felt the same. Similar humour, the main character has many common points with Kaz, the world building is sooo cool, there is a big filthy city with canals, a found family trope...

I love this series, especially the first book ❤ Let me just copy-paste the little comment I wrote under the other person recommending this: A little extra warning for SOC fans: If you're looking for a clever and interesting heist story, tight-knit friends with fun banter, great backstory, well-written flawed characters who get caught up in all sorts of crazy stuff, high stakes, beautiful but gritty fantasy city vibes, and a wonderful balance between hope, tragedy, humor and suspense, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this. But if you're specifically looking for (well-written) romance or a diverse cast, you might do better to look elsewhere. (This book does have diversity btw - there are different body types, people with glasses, and different ages - but not in the same way as SOC since the main group are all cishet guys with mostly similar hair and skin colors. No romance in book 1. Some romance in books 2 and 3, but not as well-written as SOC.) Just a heads-up in case these elements matter to you :)

Love the video 🤍 would love see more of these videos Hannah As for recs: ATLA vibes - I heard The sword of Kaigen fits this in regard to elemental magic, also I have never seen a book have so many positive reviews as this. Six of crows rec- definitely mistborn (especially the first book, the final empire) Scottish highlands cosy book - a study in drowning, it’s the vibess Blue cover, will make you cry - As long as the lemon trees grow 🍋 Short and memorable- six deaths of a saint (short story and its incredible, coming from someone who isn’t a big fan of short stories) SJM reformed - (firstly congrats) the folk of the air trilogy

I had to go away and think about "books that feel like a Hozier song" recommendations and I was kinda surprised to find that I haven't read many; here are my best suggestions though: Obvious choice, "The song of Achilles"; beautiful, lyrical writing, religious imagery, memorable love story, doomed hero/relationship. Feels a bit useless to suggest it though since I'm sure everyone's heard about it already. Other obvious choices are pretty much all classic gothic stories for again, beautiful, lyrical writing, and also eerie vibes, themes surrounding obsession, longing and lonelines. Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein, Interview with the Vampire etc. Last one, I'm a bit less confident on this but I still feel like it ticks enough boxes: The Red and The Black by Stendhal. Hear me out: beautiful writing, protagonist is an intense, dramatic and ambitious young man that keeps getting distracted and falls in love with every woman he meets, there's social commentary regarding class and opportunities.

LMAO, the way she is so excited talking about books makes me thrilled. You can watch her videos for fun, which is not common. I love books and I love it when someone shows the same vehemence I do when I talk about them and I definitely loved the reformed Sarah J Maas part lol.

ohmygod this is my time to SHINE i have sooo many hozier inspired book recs starting with unreal unearth, - the first and most obvious rec is Dante’s Inferno since the album takes a bunch of inspo from it - the Skyhunter duology by Mari Lu which specifically gives I Carrion (Icarian) and Butchered Tongue - guessing most of u have read The Hunger Games but Katniss and Peeta are sooo Francesca, also i think the link to Eat Your Young is pretty self explanatory, also Through me (The Flood) even though its not technically on the album - if you feel like turning your brain off for some super cliche romantasy, The Broken Elf King by Leia Stone reminds me of Abstract (Psychopomp) and First Light next up wasteland baby - the cruel prince is so talk and be in my mind - if you like that one tik tok audio that's like ‘how i love being a woman’ over would that i, read anne of green gables (which also reminds me of wasteland baby the title track) finally from his self titled - love & gelato by Jenna Evans Welch reminds me of jackie and wilson - we hunt the flame reminds me of angel of small death & the codeine scene and NFWMB (not the same album but shhh) - six of crows just reminds me of the whole album, specifically Work Song, Sedated and Foreigner’s God anyways if anyone has any recs that remind them of in a week or unknown/nth pls lmk theyre my favourite hozier songs and i need the recs :)

Ooh for Unknown/nth maybe The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab, it’s literally about a girl who is forgotten (unknown) by everyone she meets!

Also American Gods by Neil Gaiman! It deals with the concept of the old gods of mythology being forgotten and fading from existence because no one believes in them anymore, also the main character is very closed off and kind of a loner, which in my mind fits with the narrator in Unknown ✨

A book that has atla vibes is 100% the Sword of Kaigen. It’s by an indie author and (in my opinion) it shows what waterbenders can really do

Maybe less of a "sad girl horror" and more of a "suppressed anger girl horror" but I definitely recommend Slewfoot by BROM, one of my favorite reads of last year ❤
