An FYI & high recommendation: For those that haven't yet seen the fantastic 8-part 2023 documentary, "Icons Unearthed: Marvel", it's now on Prime & fantastic. Is one of the best, most thorough documentaries covering the Marvel Universe including the mistakes made in licensing, risks taken, deep historical dive on Marvel's cinematic history, & even talks about the actual motivation(s) behind a Marvel TV show or theater treatment; TOYS! Have seen a ton of docs on Marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc, and this 8-parter is required viewing if you like Marvel & history.

Yes: Battle-damaged versions, Hot Toys! We’re stuck with Fails #5 and #13: Tailoring and missed opportunity for villains (Lizard, etc). Hot Toys can’t judge what collectors want to see and will accept.

@@Riley.ReviewsAgree, every hobby has tipping points re: pricing, QC, etc. For someone who's new to this hobby of premium figures but not new to collecting various things; I go back to 70s w/ comics & vinyl albums. And I've worked in/out of the actual manufacturing industry since late 80s; Hot Toys is definitely, in their totality, a unique MFG'er. Again, looking from the outside, easy examples are: A) QC: obviously some improvements year over year in quality but NOT linear, often minimal if not occasionally going backwards on a figure's QC. B) Design improvements: is often clear when you compare the same figure over 5-8 years but that's a very sluggish improvement(s) calendar. IOW, Hot Toys doesn't FOCUS on figure innovations but seems rather to rely on small/rare ideas on changing designs from somewhere & again, is nit built in to their MFG processes. C) Production / release scheduling including missed shipping dates, etc. D) Indeed they seem to be self-fulfilling the hobby's term of "premium figure" & not in a good way. If you simply look at A-C & realize the value proposition is actually trending downward, buyers only need look at them/ourselves over the last 3-4 years?? My two cents....

Bro honestly great work. Love the brutal honesty. I believe there is a slight hope that we could get a 2.0 Tobey Spidey with a more screen accurate suit if we continue to make our voices heard. Especially since there’s not much coming out film wise this year and Hot Toys likes to make Spider-Man figures and they stated they have the license for the of Spider-Man 3. Shoutout to you and Nich for your passion. I cancelled all of my no way home preorders but am still getting the black suit Tobey from Spider-Man 3. I hope Hot Toys takes this constructive criticism and truly give us a screen accurate Tobey. I totally agree that Tobey Spidey is the GOAT Spider-Man 😎🤙

@@Riley.Reviews So in some scenes in TASM2 Spider-Man's lenses become almost like a really reflective mirror rather than their traditional white so maybe hot toys was somehow trying to emulate that while making them accurate at the same time from what I notice on video sometimes the lenses look pretty reflective.

The doc ock I love. Put the glasses on him it's not that bad at all. The figure looks phenomenal on the shelf with the arms. I'm genuinely happy with all of the figures from NWH. I would have liked actual figures for sandman and lizard rather than a base but overall they are pretty great figures.

You hit everything! I’m ok with Doc Ock’s head sculpt, and disappointed Lizard had no articulation at all. I’d say HT needs some system where they survey customers about prototypes. #15: WHY is Toby short? We need to make noise about all of it.

To me Doc Ock is just passable with the glasses but I ended up just repurposing Hobo Goblin's goggles and its vastly improved the look since it hides his eyes.

Honestly, I was going into the unboxing expecting to be disappointed. But among all the flaws when I see him on the shelf I’m satisfied with few things bugging me. I will be getting a custom though. Thanks for watching!

Great video. I was able to collect this line minus Strange (I went with the MOM version), the Lizard base and the Sandman base. While your comments are valid, I am able to look past the flaws and I'm extremely happy with the collection. I really like how you have the figures displayed. With that being said I have a question. Your Spider-man figures are in some great dynamic poses and you are making use of the waist clamps. My question is do you every experience/worry about damage to the Spider-man suits? Do you regularly take them out of their dynamic poses so that damage isn't done? I'm curious since these are my first spider-man figures and I hear horror stories and don't want to damage the figures. At the same time, I would like to put them in dynamic poses like you have. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for the great comment man! Yea I’m definitely more fickle don’t get me wrong, and regarding the poses. The waist clamps actually have left marks on where the poses have sat in over the few months. Now you can find work ways around this maybe putting a material over the clamps. But regarding the suit itself you can have creases but they typically form back into place over time. But it’s always a risk with them, if you care more about value I would stay away from the waist clamps, I just don’t mind since I don’t ever plan on selling them. Hope that helps!

I was thinking about getting one of these 3 spider men as my first hot toys but after watching the video I think it might be best for me to hold off on doing that in hopes of better hot toys of these 3

hah the "okay love you bye" was awesome! biggest fail here for me is the toby seam on the mask ontop of the head. hate to see it ( also honestly the price point for toby) hes not perfect and is going to be one of my most expensive retail priced figures especially with customs and conversion to canadian dollars. oof hah

Hi, I have this line as only chance to get all Spidey's and Villians, but they did cut corners and have been rushing figures, I have the Woverline. As I am UK based I buy from HK and could not get the name plate altered, still love the figure! However, it is not acceptable, like you said, when you pay top money, the quality should also be top! Keep it going, doing great!

Good video! Nothing wrong with criticism, community deserves the quality for what they paid for. Just received the single pack Tobey and it’s not to bad with Seams and web circle at correct eye area. I don’t think it’s worth the $300 price tag though. It’s deff $220 figure all day especially for something you can’t leave in long poses (I’m a museum pose collector anyway).

Literally cancelled my pre-order for Tobey as soon as the hands on images went out. Could not BELIEVE how shit his mask looked. Literally looks nothing like any of his appearances in the movies. The seam line is atrocious, the lens shape is trash, the head shape is round af, and the blue fabric is just completely inaccurate. I could NOT justify spending 300 bucks on this bootleg looking ass figure.

I want to complain about the spider man's head shape. For me, they're quite skinny and in a weird shape, although they did a good job in the prototype or display version. Also, I haven't owned any Spider-Man figures made by Hot Toys.

This is why I say that Hot Toys are getting sloppy and have been doing so just cause there was no one out there who could compete. This is a 350+ dollars figure!!! Laughable! Inart, for example, is putting in the work that Hot Toys once used to do.

In my opinion, the biggest L was the near-rerelease of the TASM2 figure. I wish it was better with an improved headsculpt. Such a shame.

Tobey and Goblin were my first hot toys ever and while i was happy with Goblin, I just got my tobey figure a week ago and unfortunately was given the batch 1 tobey head where the webbing center point in way too low below the nose and it looks awful. I tried reaching out to hot toys and provided pics and comparisons of how other peoples corrected units are vs mine and over and over across over 5 emails asking them if i could get it fixed or replaced, they only just kept telling me "This is normal for this figure. Thats how the figure is". And id keep telling and showing them its clearly not and recent people have been getting the correct mask but they just kept telling me deal with it. The tobey figure has so many problems but i honeslty wouldnt have minded if i just had the correct mask like yours in this video. The whole thing between 2 years of preorders, delays, $300 pricepoint, and the dismissive support from sideshow made this so dissappointing.

Just giving my opinion, if you see zero issues with the figures, buy them! Don’t change your collecting direction based on others perception, follow yours!

HT should really start making fewer figures and focus on quality and if they absolutely need to, raise the price but not by much. Id rather have them make less clone troopers and focus on bigger characters like padme than announcing kate bishop and hawkeyr for instance.

I feel like they could have done better with the heights on each character made and could have made them a bit more accurate in scaling with the movie. Over all in perspective each figure has its own unique style 👍🏽

While I do think this is a lot of nitpicking, it really adds up when you put them all together. Even been considering selling my NWH figures and just keeping the PS5 Advanced suit 2.0 and upgraded suit as my only spideys.
