Күн бұрынWe’ve all seen and loved Fantastic Mr Fox, but did you ever stop to wonder about the real world of foxes? Well, the first thing I can tell you is that not all foxes talk like George Clooney. Just that one, in fact. But there are all kinds of different foxes around the world, and they live in a wide range of habitats - not necessarily just ones which allow them to go through your trash at night. From the fox with enormous ears to the fox with an all white coat, here’s 15 Foxes You Won’t Believe Actually Exist!

A girl I used to work in housekeeping with ended up breeding fennec foxes. When she got her first one she'd walk around with it like a baby in a front-carrier on her chest. Said it was good for bonding or something like that (this was like 17 or 18 years ago. I can't remember the exact reasoning.) Baby was adorable 💖

The fox in your thumbnail, which also appears in the montage (at ~1:18), is actually a doll someone made of a fennec fox. It's noticeably plushier than the real thing.

Thank you! My mom kept telling me that she was going to get me a fox because she loved how fluffy they where and showed me this video. (I was the one who got her into foxes) I kept trying to tell her they weren’t real.

@@UnderwaterStars Oh that's adorable. Get her a Pomeranian instead! 🥰 Also, keeping a fox is hard work and takes a lot of resources. They mostly bond just to one person and require a lot of room to roam while still being very well contained (some can climb as well as cats). You'll probably want to be up front with your mom about that part of it, too. 😅

That’s an unrealistic fennec fox. Fennec foxes don’t look like that, I think that’s photoshop.

@@portia4101 actually, they do look like that. Tiny foxes with bat sized ears. Look it up. They do really look like that. They're a common breed of fox in Thailand and sold and kept as pets. They make great pets.

They are absolutely beautiful!! I just love them. Those big ear foxes are called bakoor jakkalse in Afrikaans. Saying that someone or an animal has bakore ( bak or dish and ore ears) means that he has ears the size of dishes. There was an old man who always sat in front of us in church and he had the biggest "bakore" in the world. As kids it was a fascinating thing to see his ears move when he sang or moved.

Saw a Kit Fox while out hiking one day here in AZ; beautiful little things. We get them in the SW towns and cities-- they've learned to walk the tops of cinderblock fences in urban areas, and they'll clean out the groundsquirrels from a colony. Not harmful to humans, though you need to keep your cats and smaller dogs indoors (coyotes are a bigger danger to them anyway.)

I live in Northern California and we have kit fox 🦊 sanctuaries , I’m all for it. Never saw one but I saw a regular fix hunting house cats in my neighborhood…mine are way bigger than the Fox so I’m not very concerned

I had a pet Fox when we lived in Aniak Alaska. It was a pup and had crawled into my younger brothers baby buggy. I was like 6 years old at the time. We fed her Gravy Train with boiled fish heads, just like the dogs.

A kit fox lived on our street in southwest missouri, she gave birth to two babies and lived here for about 4 years. I suspect animal contol picked them up and moved them back to the wild.

What about the Catalina Island Fox , only found there. I was a ranger there for 5 years and only saw a fox 1 time . Very small

I'm surprised that researchers can catch the Catalina foxes without sedating them, and have been giving them rabies and distemper vaccinations caused by people bringing their dogs over to the island. They were almost wiped out completely because of an introduced disease problem but now making a slow recovery.

A fox that fits the title of the video and is very distinctive is the Tibetan fox. I was very disappointed that it was not included. Especially since most of these foxes are well known, or relatively so.

I expected the Corzac fox. Those are rare and live in central Asia.

@@martinederoo3230 Right, but the Corzac fox is neither of these, and I think it looks odd. Summer coat is vastly different to it's winter coat, and it lives on the Steppes of Tibet and central Asia... Tibetan probably is the corzac fox, though.

The fennec fox is actually one of my favourite animals ever, along with the maine coon and husky or a wolf

I've seen a few type of foxes. A black and brown one, a red one and one that looks like it had a bunch of colored paint dumped on it, the colors are: red, black, dark brown, light brown, cream yellow and grey.
