the 1inch per gallon thing is kinda stupid because i dont think a 15inch long fish can fit in a 15 gallon tank

I didn't do the 1 inch rule and my fish tanks are still fine and a 15 inch fish needs a bigger aquarium than a 15 gallon

Remember, male bettas really don't get along (they call them Siamese fighting fish for a reason).

I was thinking of getting 6-10 neon or ember tetras and one dwarf gourami. Is it safe for a tank this size? Also id like to add some shrimp if possible (dont know how many, dont know which ones, but sakura shrimp seems cute). Thanks in advance

My lfs is always on the low side when adding fish. I currently have 6 neons ,1 male betta and 1 dwarf gourami and I was told my 15 G fluval flex is maxed out

Nah mate. Those 6 neons are worth about 1 gallon each. Betta and gourami are about 2 gallons each. You can easily put about two more fish of their size or about three that are the size of neons.

Yes, goldfish are meant for bigger tanks like 30 gallons+. And don't put shrimps with goldfish. They'll eat anything that fits their mouth.

Try the bollivian ram. It's not as colourful as the blue ram but smaller in size. It's a very nice fish.

I have a fluval flex 15 with 6 black tetras, 3 neon tetras one Cory Dora , one sparkling dwarf gurami, one honey dwarf gourami and a bristle nose baby plecko Is that over stocked?

tetra schools have to have at least 6 of them, 3 is way too low, they can develop odd behaviour, attack each other or nibble other fish' fins. They are not schooling with other tetra species. Gouramis would also be ideal to have minimum 4 as they need a group, one friend more is least you can do, but definitely not keep them all alone. Cories you can easily add several more, they live on the bottom anyway.

Just so you know, balloon fish have reduced spines, which is probably painful and makes it difficult to swim.

15 gourami, no. 15-20 neon tetras, definitely.

My 20 long holds 13 ruby tetras, 10 pygmy corys, 7 pygmy hatchets and 5 panda corys- 35 small fish. I run a sponge filter and there are a load of plants. Not only do I never get ammonia/nitrite spikes, but my nitrates are barely detectable (well under 5 ppm).
