To me they are too much fantasy meaning lack of real time period while also being set in our world and going for extremely rich looks that are overdesigned. Like butterflies on Cinderellas dress might have meaning but are too much

The green sari from Devdas is just iconic. The way she reveals it in the dance sequence will never fail to wow me. It's truly one of the best green dresses in the history of cinema. 💚

It's called anarkali, she mentions it in the video.

@crimsonred9280 It's actually an anarkali suit! An anarkali is one long piece on top, kind of like a dress, that flairs out (much like a lehenga) with pants (kind of like leggings). A lehenga is a top and a skirt, two separate pieces. A sari is one long piece of fabric, pleated and draped.

I’ve made Scarlett’s green dress, and let me tell you, it’s a trip and a half. Everything is three layers: a silk tissue taffeta lining layer, a white silk organza and the printed organza on top. Which means the 300 inch circumference of the skirt turns into almost 900 inches to hem. And those ruffles! Over 1200 buttonholes. So much work, and such an iconic dress. I love wearing it

In Clue: The Movie, Ms. Scarlet has a dark green dress that almost looks black in some shots. It's quintessential 80's, with the off shoulder straps and sheetheart neckline (even though the film is set in the 50's). I don't think it necessarily has historical significance or left a lasting impression on costuming as a whole. But I love it. I think Leslie Ann Warren looks fabulous and dark green is a color that always catches my eye.

Mee too, as much as I had loved the inclusion of Devdas in this video, not adding Simran's green outfit in DDLJ during the Mehendi ceremony was a huge miss. Hell, there are several green dresses which appeared in Bollywood that I can't think of right now, but played an important role in the movie

The Court Jester 1956 (starring Danny Kaye) had the MOST GLORIOUS dresses. Very theatrical, but GORGEOUS. There were several green dresses/outfits worn by the two main female characters (played by a beautiful young Angela Lansbury and Glynis Johns). If you like gorgeous medieval inspired dresses, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend watching it for that alone, though the humor still holds up too imo

Yes, I missed these videos. Love that you included dresses from Black Panther, 13 Going On 30, and Devdas, and while I don't particularly like Oz The Great And Powerful, I will admit the green dress in it is stunning. As for your future blue dress video, some of the most memorable ones for me were the the gorgeous dresses from the 1980s Swann In Love, the musical Peau D'ane, White Christmas, Dreamgirls, 1954 Madam Du Barry, Umrao Jaan, House Of Flying Dragons, and of course the french Belle A La Bete.

I would like to add to the list the pretty green frock Maureen O' Hara wears in "The Quiet Man" . She wears it in the scene when Mary Kate Danaher (O' Hara) is courted by Sean Thornton (John Wayne), ending with them getting caught in the rain in the ancient cemetery. The dress is a lovely 1950's representation of 1930's fashion & looks so beautiful with Maureen O'Hara's red hair & peaches & cream complexion. It is so quintessentially Irish that it could almost be made from shamrocks.

I watched Carol Burnett come down the stairs in that curtain rod dress. It was hilarious! Carol was the funniest woman of the 70s. That Atonement dress is my all time favorite.

I had cramps so painful I couldn't move or speak. I needed a video interesting enough to distract me from the pain, calming enough that the pace and tone didn't exacerbate, irritate, or overstimulate, and was long enough to get me through the worst of it till the meds kicked in. After trying a couple of other videos I landed on this one. I love analysis of fashion and styles from different eras, especially costumes and the color green was so calming to look at and your tone soothing and engaging. By the time it ended I was feeling significantly more comfortable. You saved me, thank you. Wonderful video can't wait to watch the rest of the series! You just got a brand-new subscriber 💙

Also just bought/made my first two green dresses in a very long time after committing to a red/blue color palate one of which is reminiscent of the notebook dresses but in more of a pastel green with tiny white and navy flowers, and the other a medieval fantasy dress I made for the Narnia faire. this video made me super excited to rock both!

I gotta say I love this series as a whole, it's entertaining and informative (the movies you pick and the way in which you talk about the art of costume design in film), however, this is the first installment I didn't really like. The dresses you chose definitely lacked the oomph that many other dresses in previous videos had. But that one seems different. I can't tell if it's the writing or how I can only enjoy each green dress for approximately 5 seconds before you're immediately moving on to the next one ... "13 going on 30 is a great example of the importance of costume design, even in a contemporary setting" - I thought this was what your channel was all about
