I was raised by a mom with hoarding tendencies and literally EVERYTHING was piled up in full view all the time…God forbid anything get moved or thrown away😱 So I never understood why I had so much anxiety until I got a place of my own. Even then I didn’t know/understand HOW to organize and store things until I started watching you. Turns out I’m more of a ladybug and need things neat, tidy and organized but all behind closed doors! YOU helped me see that!! Remember these things when you feel you’re in a rut…there are plenty more like me, I’m sure! THANK YOU!

Did we have the same mom? I asked dad the other day why he was OK with living in a house that was made up of newspaper tunnels stacked up 6 ft high and every plastic bag that ever came into the house. I didnt realize how this behavior had rubbed off on me until I started deep decluttering. I’m actually a neat freak as an adult.

My dad was a gold record artist from the late fifties to early sixties. He found newness in the sharing of his songs I know throughout his life. But, just like you said, there were times I know that were harder to get up there and make himself put himself out there. But, he truly loved people (not too unlike you). So that was a big part of why he spoke to the hearts of so many from the stage throughout the decades that he was here on this planet.💖

Your life coach really did do her job, Cas! She showed you that you have to show up for life; you said it yourself in your analogy! You obviously learned the lesson and now you are passing it on. We all need to show up, even when we do not feel like it. No excuses. I like the three things a day on the list! I have been doing that steadily and it is working!

I have learned so much from you!! Probably the most important thing was recognizing that we all have individual styles of organizing. I am a natural born organizer (bee/cricket), and I've learned to give grace to my family members who do it differently than me. So thank you for that :). I am a lazy housekeeper so any worthwhile hacks are my go-to. I understand the burnout of doing the sane thing day in and day out working toward curbing resentment or discouragement. I am reading Atomic Habits right now and he talks about the boredom of repetition. The upside is THAT is what separates the amateurs from the professionals; that ability to keep on going despite the boredom. I am so thankful i found you here on KZfaq. Thanks for keeping it real. Makes me love you all the more! As a fellow homebody introvert I feel like I found my tribe! I wish you all the best. You "crack" me up!"🤣

@@Clutterbug please reconsider a few of these hacks. Fabric softener is meant to be rinsed off. It is actually a highly flammable liquid. Not safe to have on the walls. The fumes are also toxic to birds. It can cause respiratory distress. Fyi. Also, peppermint oil is dangerous for cats and dogs. Cats can get very sick just inhaling it from the air and dogs will get sick if they lick it. But the symptoms are vague at first and often don’t get notice until the animal is in liver failure. Cleaning sprays and diffusers with certain essential oils are a no no for people with pets. Peppermint, lavender and tree tea oils are three of the big ones.

Hi Cas, thank you for making your videos available on KZfaq. I have been watching so many channels about organizing and decluttering - it was only after finding yours that I understand my own organizing style/preference. I always felt like a failure when I couldn't clear off my desk with the piles of paper whereas my hubby has no problem keeping his desk very clear (no papers at all). Now I know I am a Bee and can proceed to declutter and reorganize in a way that would work for me. I have been decluttering different sections of the house one area at a time. Thank you again for being there for people like me.

I've been decluttering and cleaning with strategies for a year now, but I look forward to all the new content because I love all the new encouragement, insights, and what you all have gained from what you've been doing so long. In just a year, my house and day is completely different than the cluttered mess it was. The spray mop hack is a game changer for always having clean floors. I keep a chordless vacuum and spray mop in my kitchen pantry and when I am cooking I vacuum if needed then mop. My floors are always clean and it doesn't feel like a chore since I am already in the kitchen cooking and use them in between stirring something that needs to be stirred occasionally.

Cass, just like any caregiver, you have to take care of yourself in order to have enough energy to take care of others or to take care of your own business. If that means cutting back and saying "screw the algorithms" just take the day off! Do something that invigorates your soul and puts a smile on your face. 😃 And get professional help if you know you have ADHD or a tendency towards depression. You deserve the best! You truly have helped so many. We'll understand if you don't put out a video from time to time. 🥰

I'm sure we missed places but we got a lot of the floor cleaned and even buffed. I even had my kids do it when they were little. If your floor had enough space (ours were small but it still worked) it became a game to see how far you could slide.

Oh wonderful Cass! Sometimes I don't feel like showing up for my job as a nurse. But, I also plow though those thoughts and talk to myself, "You know you really love helping others!", "Get out of bed! Those patients don't want to be in the hospital any more than you!" (Well, most of them...lol) I usually find these shifts to be my best. It isn't that a patient is any less sick or family less demanding. It is because I gave myself a pep talk and went into the shift with determination to do what needs to be done. Maybe we should each start our day with a self pep talk! 😃

I have to say thank you so much for what you do. This is my first time coming across your channel and it thought wow this woman's taste in organization is so closed to mine. I feel like I'm going to park it here. There are only a few who's styles I really gravitate towards. So thank you for hanging in there as long as you have. I have so much to learn. And I want so much to do better about the house we are in, I just need a little help. You are truly a blessing.

Really want to try the lint roll trick. What a great idea! Especially for lampshades which do tend to get smeary when you dust them. Also peppermint oil. I already use it to keep ants out of the kitchen but dusting with it is truly an inspired thought.

Hi Cas, I love your videos, and I do wash my curtains, but I don't dry them in the dryer. I wash them using a delicate cycle so they don't wrinkle, then I hang them back up as soon as they're done spin drying. They dry perfectly and the house smells fantastic, especially when I use scent beads. It works on sheers and blackouts too.

Definitely will use the knife and wipe trick! Spray and walk away is my favourite one I currently use. Worried about using bicarb and vinegar together after people were saying please don't do both for sink blockages. For me though, sprinkling the bicarb on my carpet and adding vinegar removed an old stain that dedicated carpet cleaning products couldn't do.
@judytaylor819
@judytaylor819 2 жыл бұрын
I was just researching the use of sodium bicarbonate and vinegar. It is not dangerous unless put into an enclosed bottle or jar. This is because the chemical reaction that will ensue causes a gas release that does the same thing that happens when shaking a bottle or can of soda: a possible explosion. In my experience with a white stovetop and a Hubby without the concept of burnt on stains, using bicarb with vinegar and a little time is easier than other products.

The Pink Stuff is very, very similar to Australian Gumption and has been around for 60 years and still going strong. You will find that they both contain bi-carb soda/baking soda and that's why they work so well. Also neither contain toxic chemicals. We're on tank water and septic tanks so bleach is a big no for us so I use vinegar instead. Vanilla Ice now has a home improvement tv show called The Vanilla Ice Project. Don't think he's singing that song much anymore!

#3 1:34 Sticky tape leaves behind a slight residue of glue. Therefore, in the long run it’s attracting more lint/dust to the surface. As such, adhesive tape rollers should only be used on items that can be laundered. Most of the other hacks are great!

We have a lot of carpet in our home. I put peppermint oil (and eucalyptus sometimes) in baking soda to use as carpet freshener. The whole house smells fresh and no perfumes. I also do plain baking soda too. I’m totally using the knife/towel trick today. I pull my stove out periodically to clean the cracks. I too have a stove like yours but luckily it’s black on top. Baking soda and scratch free sponge does wonders. I use vinegar to clean the soda residue. Might have to get that pink stuff though.
