I've had great results talking with ebay customer service when I have them call back through the automated help. It seems that they pull up all the info on your item and are ready to help. Glad it went well for you.

Stop- they process billions of pieces of mail and it’s bound to happen. They’re not perfect like any one of us. I’ve been using usps for my small business for 20 years and had 1 lost package.

I have never had a lost parcel from USPS in 5 years. In the last 2 weeks I now have 2 parcels missing from USPS Ground Advantage. Both parcels went missing at the Atlanta, GA Depo.

In the past, I have contacted ebay more than once about a case until I got a domestic representative. My experience has been they're just more knowledgeable and have greater ability to access what's needed to take care of issues.

Ordered some supplies from a regular ebay vendor. Item didn't come in the allotted time and was a few days late. Looked at tracking and after the first few entries it just disappeared (like your return). Checked in with seller as we were going on a week's time late, they didn't know but finally, 10 days late, the item arrived. Also had a buyer want to give me positive feedback after receiving an item and there never was a last scan so it looks undelivered! Wondering if I'll get a late shipment ding for that one! So bottom line, there seems to be some issues in the last few weeks with items being lost, not scanned, etc. Hope it can resolve before Q4 when things really pick up!

Kapo - used to clamp onto the strings of a tuned guitar to change the pitch. What does eBay do for sellers about lost returns? Usually, as little as they can get away with. If eBay is the shipper of record then the sellers can't even file an insurance claim, even though Lost Mail claims are the only ones a shipper can usually win. If Lonnie hit off-shore support, he'd be out shipping both ways AND the item. Usually eBay support is an oxymoron. Even their Facebook page has apparently gone down the tubes. But this time they got lucky.

Johnnycake: A very old style cornbread or cornmeal flatbread, dating back long before the Civil War. Not like a modern pancake, except for size and shape. I think of pancakes as what my mother and wife (both Northerners) make in a pan on the kitchen stove, while flap jacks and hot cakes as being made outside on a camp fire and flipped over in the air, to use fewer utensils. Of course, word choice is likely regional as well. But top them with fruit or good (real) Vermont syrup and I don’t care what they’re called!

The best way I've found to quickly go through comics - use ebay image search. You can go through those boxes in under an hour with that.

Lost Package: about all you could say to the buyer is: “we noticed you have opened a Lost Package Search with the Carrier. We will let you know if the package arrives here.” But it is an interesting situation, since you don’t owe a refund until the package arrives back in the same condition it was sent. I guess after a while, the buyer could be advised to open a claim with the carrier or to contact eBay for resolution, or both. I have had eBay reps say they will do things, like a hold, but within a hour the auto system will do the opposite of what they said would happen. It’s always hit or miss, especially when it's an overseas help desk. Not all American based call center cases are decided in my favor, but all those calls go faster, even when I loose and time is money. I think my best call resolutions are the couple that ended up in the eBay Ireland call center. Have ever got Ireland? That is always both fun and interesting. I wish I could call Ireland direct for every problem.

It's weird, that return is now showing up under "closed" status but it's not really closed. It's now a "case". Package update - still no track for 9 days.

@@shedflips Had one take several weeks to move, but it did after a "chaser" message was sent via the USPS web site. In that case, it was bouncing between 2 of our states Regional Sorting Centers and there were 21 tracking updates that said: Leaving Seattle, Destination Tacoma, WA, then leaving Tacoma, WA, destination Seattle and that just kept repeating itself, over and over. It did eventually show up, long after I had to close the claim and pay the buyer.

I had a package with something I had ordered disappear just like the with the tracking saying "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late" for a solid 2 weeks. I was just about to complain when it popped up in Puerto Rico. The next day it was in the Distribution center there, and the day after that it was at my door in Texas. FWIW it was shipped Priority Mail from upstate New York an apparently got missorted and put on a boat to Puerto Rico which is why it wasn't scanned for so long. Also I guess I might just have to sell my Moray now that my kids are older, I'll have to look for the parts though

Either the sender or the recipient files the insurance claim on a lost package. Something went on that week. I had 2 packages take over a week for delivery. I feel you will probably get it soon.

Yeh sender or receiver can file insurance claim on damaged or lost packages. That's another issue though - pretty sure that package is only insured for $100 and it was a $150 item. As of today it has been 9 days since that package got a scan. We'll be contacting ebay again pretty soon. If we have to file insurance or whatever, we will, but if ebay is going to "take care of it" then that's preferable.

I’ve found that the item will eventually show up when a list item case is opened so expect it to show up. It will be interesting to see what eBay will do? Also, was the item insured for $150? If so, USPS will cover that cost to the shipper. If not, and it was shipped Ground Advantage or Priority it will be covered for $100.

How does ebay get their fees if paid with cash? And will ebay refund you for the return shipping label if you don't get the item back? I imagine it was a little costly for a larger item?

I had a similar return situation. My complaint with eBay is, they set a deadline for the seller to complete the refund, which doesn’t tie into the fact that the item doesn’t show delivered in the tracking on their website. Shouldn’t their system be able to read non delivery? The seller of course has to call ebay or they will be given a defect for not completing the return by the deadline.

Question for you! In something like that cookin’ on the horseshoe book…where you had two copies. I noticed the one you pulled to ship had a tear in the bottom of the cover. Do you ever worry that you “pulled the wrong one” (I didn’t you ask Candice for confirmation if they bought the “torn cover” one) or… maybe you had the item listed as multi-quantity? If so, would you worry that the actual photos were of a non-torn copy? Thanks
