My buddy has a couple monstrum products, he had the illumination go out on one after a few years, they couldn’t fix it but sent him the newer version as a replacement. Their warranty is about the same as vortex, no questions asked, they stand by their products and replace when it’s not repairable.

I have 4 Monstrum red dots and 2 lvpo's all bought in the last 2yrs. I haven't had any problems with them and there mounted on 556,308 and 450 Bushmaster.

Great review. Agreed that not everyone wants to drop $800-$2,000 for optics on every single gun they own, also some folks simply cannot afford expensive optics. Having affordable options is great and there's been a real improvement in quality with lower budget optics over the past few years. I have a lot of various optics on my AR's. I've been trying a Monstrum Banshee 1-6 on a Aero Precision 5.556 AR build for about 6 months. After 1,000 rounds, no issues at all. Would recommend.

Thank you. I’ve had their 5x magnifier for a year now and it’s perfectly fine, just had to add some loctite. I noticed that the people who complained about it were novice shooters. Currently waiting on their Banshee 1-6x with their fiber wire to arrive. For $99 with free S&H it costs about as much as a budget red dot with way more versatility. If I’m shooting >600 yards with concealed targets at unknown ranges I’ll upgrade.

I have a 1-4 monstrum I got for range use. It’s honestly as clear as my vortex and has been on a x39 build for a couple years. Thing is a tank and has been thrown around for 4 years. I actually trust the thing.

I remember literally being in the woods training and my unit gave me no sling. I tripped and threw my gun just as you did onto a tree. It was a acog and the zero did shift a bit. I have a monstrum spectre 1x10 on my AR 10. It was on a ar15 beforehand. It a great optic. Love monstrum and plan on getting a panzer 1-10 eventually

I just happen to have a Monstrum 1-6 on my .458 SOCOM. I have right at 800 rounds thru it with this scope. I have a dial chart for each of the 5 different rounds I use. I have had no issues holding zero even though I click thru different zero settings for different rounds and then return to the base zero. And the lighted reticle still works.

The Firefield 1-6x24 is another solid budget LPVO. It's routinely available for sub $150 on OpticsPlanet, has decently clear glass, a nice reticle, and comes with the mount (which is very sturdy, if a bit chunky). The eye box is tight on 6x, but up to 4x it's crystal clear and easy to use. Mine's held up just fine on a gassy AR10, even with more than a few magdumps. If nothing else, it's good for setting up a backup rifle on the cheap, which is where mine lives now.

you know, i wonder about those other brands i often see on optics planet like the Firefields, Barskas, Hawke's, Nikko Sterlings, Muellers, Simmons, Crimson Trace, etc etc. I find it hard to believe that ALL of those budget options are complete trash but it's even harder to find solid reviews on them that aren't unfairly bashing them or praising them. The only ones I consider "worthy" in the sub $200 range are the vortex, bushnell and sig saur brands. I can't afford anything higher right now but I just want to know which scopes in those lower price ranges are going to at least give a decent eye box and not fall apart after a few hundred rounds.

I just bought one of these last night to put on airsoft rifle to "match" the Vortex I have on my real rifle. I got it for just over $100 on Amazon, so based on the vid it's a hell of a lot better than I was expecting for that price.

I have the Rukus 3x and the Blackbird 3x and really like them. Running them on AR pistol builds. Just picked up a Blackbird 1x for my Panzer m4, may try it on the ar9... Great products couldn't be happier.

I like the idea of their Cyborg prism sights, I have a couple of them now from their open box deals. They are x1 because I wanted it for close to mid range. The cyborgs have the shake awake on them which is great. Got only 150 rounds with it and no shifting. Didn’t throw it around at all. Other prisms are very pricy and I like them better than the Sig Romeo I got and it was like 50 bucks cheaper.

I got the panzer 1-10 ffp mounted on my aero m5 w 13.5 DB barrel. Dead nuts accurate and this scope delivers. Glass is better than i expected and although the brightness could be better.. its not too bad. At 80 yds im easily hitting 16 oz water-filled pepsi bottles... at 1x power. I have about 600 rounds of hot 308 and not an ussue yet. I reccomend.

I bought the spectre several months ago for a range toy .22 lr. Its been fine. I am going to guess the main difference is the mount. The one on the spectre seems fairly robust.

been testing a Monstrum4x16 and 1x10 both are holding up so fas 1x10 is on a 308 ak RAK 308 c a m77b and the other is on a 5.56 ar15 I have used out to 500. being moa scopes and no mil offerings is definitely a sign of budget scopes . the glass is clear for the price point better than utg leapers .

I have purchased 2 different Monstrum rifle scopes. The first optic i had was 7 years ago. Sold it with the rifle. I currently have a 4×26 Hornet on a 308. I find this optic to be very functional and clear. I can shoot anything i want very easily. I did purchase the sigle Piece Monstrum scope mount.. it is a new 20" ar and this scope has held zero fine through 200 rnds. I se no reason it would suddenly self destruct.

The momstrum mount is 7075 aluminum...whats the vortex mount made of? Its 6061 i believe

6061 is imo better for that. 7075 = stronger 6061 = more Flex before breaking The Vortex Mount ironically doesn’t tell me what material it is anywhere, so I’d guess 6061

I had a monstrum that i put on an ar10 .308 build and it never lost zero, even after dropping my gun from a tree stand and landing on the optic. My only complaint was how different the zero was from 1x to it's max magnification, though i am unfamiliar if that's normal for lpvo's.

I just wanted to add this but my monstruo prism optic the illumination is blinding at night. Lowest setting is only usable at night and during the day both colors are very clear

Finding an honest review of all of these is a challenge. Anyone that thinks a $2500 optic is needed will never think a $100 scope is "good enough". Me, I'm not going to war and I won't be buying an expensive one. Do the cheaper ones work? I have the $30 cvlife scope on our 22lr and it works great.

@dirtsmiles8098 yeah $2500 is crazy. I've got a couple Vortex on different things and they work good. Not expensive though. One's $200 the other's $180. After picking up some deals off of 704 tactical channel I now have 2 CVLife optics and they seem to work pretty dang good to. There will always be those guys who think you gotta drop the big bucks for it to be worth anything, and that's not always true.

When you zero an LPVO, do you zero at 1x or the highest magnification? My assumption is your zero at 1x... if so, does that hold up through all magnifications or do you need to make adjustments?

I zero @ max magnification; 1x may get you on paper and help if the dot is way off before zooming all the way in to make the fine adjustments. The adjustment will hold through all the magnification ranges once zeroed; for this that’s 1-6x

I’m def not hard on my rifles shooting targets with my buddies. But the prism, lpvo’s, and mounts all seem to work just fine. Just stay away from their lasers and flash lights

I've used some of their more recent lpvos and prisims and they're not that bad. Obviously as with most things you do get a better product spending more. But for just like a weekend shooter it's fine.

a Monstrum 1-4 scope was the scope on my first rifle. It was okay. It definitely had some zero drift over time. Since I upgraded to a Arken 1-8 It now resides on my 22 and I haven’t noticed any zero shift since on it
