Damn, these gtr fanboys are really making me start to hate the gtr. Doesn't matter what cars in the video and these kids are writing "gtr will stomp it." stfu and understand not everyone wants a gtr that does basically everything for you electronically. Yeah maybe putting 1500hp into an all wheel drive gtr would lay a woopin on this zo6 but some of us would rather the challenge of driving 2 wheel drive manual cars to their limits.

***** ur an idiot if you think hes running 1500 on the street. Those high hp numbers are just numbers thats why whenever you see a video of a gtr or lambo race a vette with 1500hp they win. Noone runs that much hp below 120mph. They are running boost by gear
@casualt7688
@casualt7688 7 жыл бұрын
steve rodriguez well you can hear that the corvette driver didn't just floor it right away. With that kind of power(if it REALLY is 1500hp) you have to gradually increase the throttle other wise your tires are definitely gonna spin. In most videos I see of Supras with all that power the driver doesn't floor it right away, and when he does you can tell because either the tires spin or they're about to and the driver lets off a bit. Idk just my thought. Not tryna start any negative bullshit haha.

The ZR1 and the brand new Viper had the chance to duke it out at Laguna Seca. Very similar in build; they even tied on the strip, but the Corvette did not only have a faster lap time around the track. It set the production car lap record. Those big brakes definitely help when going around those tight corners.

.YES I have and 10 on a bike seems even faster, done that too, just enjoy and be safe and ignore the idiots. Most have never seen 100, but they will say 150 all the time. 150 seems to be the default for idiots who do not realize most times what hey drive will never hit 150 do to gearing and aero, no matter the power they CLAIM to have. If I had a dime for every ol muscle car owner who thinks they do 150, I take them against my 600 with speed corrected speedometer and tell them to do so, then I leave em and tell them I top out at 160-163 depending on conditions. NONE have even got close, most 120 or so at best and takes them forever to get there.

Excellent point. I'm sure that they would just keep going straight if something happened while traveling at over 150mph and not cross over into oncoming traffic.They probably picked that spot based solely on its impenetrable grass median. Its great that you spent the whole video shivering, but traveling at those speeds on public roads is just stupid and it puts a lot of innocent people at risk. You can now reply and call me all kinds of names - knock yourself out - but the fact remains that this is a dumb thing to do on the street. Period.
@JimmyCoupe
@JimmyCoupe 7 жыл бұрын
JGCSRT i see where your coming from I also see that you're either 15 and below or never driven something fast in your life, it's a lot easier to just wait for the time of day when everyone's in work and go out for 20 minutes give or take and do some pulls vs looking for an event, schedule time off of work, pay all the gate fees, and how much it costs to bring your car in and what knot so you can do maybe 2 pulls down a drag strip, going on the high way for a couple minutes is a lot easier than going thru all the necessary stuff to do it legally. Let me guess, you also wanna take away guns in America to make it "safer"?

You can't be serious...parachutes are REQUIRED at drag strips for any car that runs faster than 150 mph in the 1/4, which I guarantee this Corvette does. Not sure why people leave them on the car when they are driving on the street though...probably to show off.

Yep, I hit one on 15 November 2013 at less than 50 mph. And the car was finished (too much damage to the front end). A bit faster and the animal could have actually killed me (through the windshield).

I enjoy high-performance cars, like my 825-hp, red-metalflake, gorgeous '68 Vette. So I enjoyed the video. Now I have to increase MY power! But long ago (1966), as a teen, I hit something at 85-90 mph, at night. When I pulled over, the right front of my dad's '63 Chrysler 300J was a little damaged around the headlights. I thought maybe I hit a box or something; it looked like that in the split-second before I hit it. Then when I got light on the right front, I saw a little blood! I was afraid that I had hit a person, wandering on the highway! The highway patrol finally found what I hit, over an hour later. (I worried the whole time, praying, until they called!) I hit a large, grey, collar-less dog; it was about 1/4-mi away, in a ditch. (No one ever claimed the dog, so it was a stray, and they disposed of it.) But they said that another time, they found a person in the ditch in that same area, hit by someone who did NOT report it, as I did. Thankfully I did NOT hit a person! Also thankfully, I was not charged with anything (they had no evidence of my actual speed). And of course, my dad was not happy! (He got it fixed, but later sold it. I wish I still had that 300J.) But it COULD have been much worse, if it HAD been a person. Also, even that large dog could have wrecked or killed me, if it was not a glancing blow off the right front, because I swerved a bit to the left, in that split-second. Whenever I think of it, I have always felt sad for that stray dog. :(

Phil Baker In 2009, my front left burst at 160+ mph on a highway (empty car, empty road, after midnight). The car had been standing for some time before that and the tires didn't like it, obviously. I didn't hit anything, but the vibrations at around 140 mph were horrible. I thought I would seriously crash massively. At around 110-120 mph, the situation was already very calm. And at 80 mph, it felt like I was already doing walking speed, very relaxed. So I learned the hard way that our highway speed limit of 130 km/h (81 mph) was very good. But of course it cannot protect us against everything that can happen (animals, pedestrians, drivers who do not use mirrors or signals...). Still, it is much better than if something happens at 120+ mph.

Personally I think the Viper backed off cause the Vette driver was a drunk - ass fool, w/ his rear end drifting into the Viper's lane. I'd back off too. And I drive a "street legal '67 Cougar that runs 10.17 @ 134. And I don't like Chevy or Mopar. But that Vette driver gotta be a drunk - ass hillbilly.....././. his engine was smoking & overheating. The Viper wins because of typical Chevy - owners stupidity.

try to wrangle 1500hp on a car that has terrible handling, a car that likes to wander at high speeds, and probably horrible tcs. I'm pretty sure you'd be flying around the lanes.

Daniel Bellezza That Vette doesn't have 1500 HP when it's smoking like a typical Chevy burn - out. I have 1/2 that HP & can blow the doors off it. Been clocked @ 155 MPH through the back door @ S.I.R.
@RockotheCat13
@RockotheCat13 10 жыл бұрын
Daniel Bellezza It's not how much HP your engine is putting out. It's about TORQUE. What you're actually putting out @ the back wheels. Viper has TORQUE. Vette doesn't. It's always been that way. My Bro smoked an L88 built '69 Vette w/ his basically stock '68 AMX - 390SB - 4 speed. He had MORE torque. Period.

Hmmm...1500hp (theoretical?) and you blew a ring, oil coming out of your tailpipe! What's the point? If you're going to spend all of that dough and bore out your engine you might want to consider high performance parts!

@matthewhaga5400
@matthewhaga5400 7 жыл бұрын
BigBird1766 You need to do a little studying. It is common for high performance cars to have more ring gap to keep from breaking rings under high boost pressures. More blow by can equal smoke out the exhaust with running hard then off the throttle.
@superdude1759
@superdude1759 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, well I'm a jet engine mechanic (high bypass turbo fan) so I know a little about engine pressures and oil. The engines I work on run at far greater temperatures (700°F) and pressures (35:1-40:1) than your sorry little car engines and they don't spit anything out the exhaust nozzle at high pressures except hot gases because they're designed so that the oil stays in the engine to do what is supposed to do, lubricate, the fuel air mixture is burned properly so that only hot thrust under high pressure exits the engine, not oil and engine parts, but then again your sorry little engines aren't built to the same standards are they because: 1) they don't leave the ground and 2) you couldn't afford them if they were engineered correctly! Perhaps it's you who needs to learn something about contained combustion!
@matthewhaga5400
@matthewhaga5400 7 жыл бұрын
BigBird1766 Well you see...the engines you supposedly work on are for a completely different purpose so that makes sense that things are different. As far as me not being able to afford something like this car, I don't need to be able to afford it. I would just build it. You need to not be such a know it all because obviously you don't know. The engines are much different and run in completely different ways. And you might could afford a car like this, but you couldn't afford the jet engines you supposedly work on, so what's the difference?
@jackbishop7693
@jackbishop7693 7 жыл бұрын
Mmm no, a jet is far different than an automotive internal combustion engine. The quality of parts alone, as well as tolerances might far exceed what a car can handle, but jets are also not only worked on, but fully rebuilt, logarithmically more often. Just look at Top Fuel cars as an example, no?

Agree. In Race 1, the Viper is keeping pace with the Vette only in the BEGINNING. We can clearly see and hear in the reply from the Vettes perspective that this was because the Corvette just COULD NOT get traction at full throttle. The driver also shortshifted at 0:43, the rear tires having broken loose and the engine red-lining. The Vette then proceeds to spin tires in the next gear. If the speeds are accurate, then so to, I assume, are the HP numbers.

you can get good mpg from a powerful engine if you drive it like a normal car because they are very efficient, my buddy has a dodge srt4 that he himself built in a shop that he works at (FFE) pushing 600-700hp and gets between around 35-40 mpg around town
