The new Tram Stop 20, Anzac Station, was opened to passengers on Monday 19th December 2022. Still very much a work in progress, it is presently a busy and noisy place with tradesmen and machinery working at the tram stop itself and the surrounding areas.
In this video we see the new Stop 20 and the altered trackwork, and we also take a ride to Stop 22, Toorak Rd along the newly realigned tracks. This should be the final configuration of the tracks.
Connections to the Domain Rd tracks from Park St have been provided, for use by Route 58 trams only. Strangely enough, trams travelling to Toorak along Park St turn right into St Kilda Rd and then on to Stop 20, whilst another track allows for the Domain Rd connection but misses the Anzac Station tram stop. However, trams travelling along Domain Rd to West Coburg can only access Park St but not St Kilda Rd which seems strange. It remains to be seen if services will ever resume along Domain Rd.
