Here it is… My final +100 Sideshow Dinosauria revisit! And appropriately so, because this is the last Sideshow Dinosauria I purchased.
Gastonia is one impressive representation of a nodosaurid ankylosaur, and Sideshow has done it due justice. The sculpt, detail, texturing, paint applications… everything is so highly balanced in quality that there’s nothing too superlative I can say about it. The keratinous and skin detailing is Sideshow quality of course, but what tops it off for me as well is the colour scheme. Such a beautiful yet subdued palette of greens and earth grays cap off what is one of Sideshow’s best. It’s such a pleasure to revisit, and to present a much more accurate representation of this glorious statue than my original.
If you like statues like these, you might also want to check out Titans_of_the_Earth KZfaq channel, which features other high end statues.

Nice review and amazing statue, but I came here msinly because I want to know when we will have the Himalayasaurus PNSO review hahaha. I really want PNSO to announce the new figure, and I hope it is a plesiosauroidea species or maybe an archelon would be nice

It is very sad that this one is the last Sideshow dinosaur statue. They go into Jurrasic park after that.

I would be over the moon if PNSO released a figure of this magnificent Polacanthid . Discovered in close proximity with Utahraptor one can see how this thyreophoran evolved to maximize it’s survivability against giant dromeosaurs . They faced off against slashes to the torso and belly , thus the long bladed armor could deliver devastating injuries to any raptor careless enough to engage them , and long dorsal blades discouraged leaping atop to slash attack the base of the neck . One can truly see how these dinosaurs defended themselves against a particular type of predatory attack .

Definitely! Or perhaps even just Polacanthus. Certainly PNSO should have a large enough base to take risks on more obscure, even basal genera, offering that which other companies haven't even done or have done poorly. However that is predicated on its keeping its loyal fan base, and act on feedback such as the recent seams issue.

Great review, as always! It's a shame the Dinosauria line went belly-up. That was the only one of the larger scale polystone statue lines that I liked. Most of them just make Jurassic Park figures, and the ones that don't (Dam-Toys and IToy for example) tend to make their dinosaurs too monsterous and shrink-wrapped, or just plain inaccurate (like the Dam-Toys Spinosaurus). Though I'd never be able to afford them, the Gastonia, the Tyrant King, and the Apatosaurus were really beautiful models, and it's a shame they're gone.

I have over the years written Sideshow many times to ask about this, or even if they have decided to stop completely. I often cite the fact that Sideshows come onto the secondary market rarely as indication that there is a demand for these statues and very few are buying them for reselling or scalping purposes. Sadly I never received the courtesy of a reply or even an acknowledgement. You are spot on about the Damtoys figures! They may look impressive to a casual viewer, but the inaccuracies or horrible proportions on some of them... I get that they are considered higher end statues, but for the lack of accuracy compared to the Sideshows, I won't be spending that kind of money!

@@DinosDragons That's a good point! Not to mention each of the models remained in production for fairly short amounts of time, or rather sold out very quickly. Like you said, there is a demand for these models and people are keeping them instead of reselling them, so it's anyone's guess why the line ended so soon. Who knows, maybe they wanted to focus more on their pop-culture lines and the Dinosauria line was too expensive. Tis a shame too that you got no reply from Sideshow. The mystery continues. I agree, and if I recall correctly, the Dam-Toys models tend to be more expensive than the Sideshow models. This, despite the fact that their Gigantspinosaurus and Velociraptor statue (which you can already see the problem there) is a carbon-copy of one of those low-quality CG renderings that plague so many modern kids books, and the fact that their Giganotosaurus looks like a chibi with its comically huge head. There are many more models that suffer the same pitfalls as these, but those might be the most egregious.

Great re-review. This is my last favorit. Hope i will get one for my dinosauria collection some day. I have the opportunity to get the dilophosaurus (rare) but for over 500 it is not as impressive as my other ones or your big gastonia.

The sad thing is that when these Sideshows were released, they were incredibly cheap (in today's terms). The Sideshow Dilophosaurus pair was USD$300. They are very nice models but as the Dilophosaurus form has changed (see Adam's 2020 paper), $500 is too much for me when funds are low and there are many other models I could get for that money. If I could that chunk of change, I would get the Mosasaurus instead.

PS: I dropped your channel a little mention at the end. Since I've exhausted my Sideshows, I thought it would be a good place to follow up on others for those who are interested to see more 😉
