I'm really tired of people absolutely protesting the sheer concept of Emulation. Some games just aren't available now, period. And in some cases, those that are, are only being sold used by independent vendors, so even if you order it on eBay, it's not like Nintendo would get any kind of a profit from them. If the game is sold on Nintendo's eShop, and I can legally buy it, that's different. But I'm not going to feel ashamed of emulating what's essentially abandon-ware.

I'll go with the stamp collecting. The people who designed emulators did so because they wanted to see how the system worked from the inside. Once they made their software public, people than started dumping roms getting on this "game preservation" trip. You see how quickly those people change their tune when Nintendo takes down a rom hosting site? All games should see a physical media release. Period. Games should never be free. When someting becomes too convenient for people, they end up taking it for granted and losing the appreciation that was held for it in the first place. If I make a very well done Hack of Castlevania, someone will sell it on a reproduction cart and profit from it. Even though both I and they don't own the game and have no right to market it, sell it or profit from it. Emulation did a lot of damage too. Nobody wants to cop up to that, do they?

I don't feel bad over emulating at all period. I've emulated games since I was like 13. It's let me play so many games I'd never ever have had the opportunity to play otherwise. Now I can still buy the physical copies to own them and I'll do that, but that's not gonna stop me from emulation still. That's my view on it. Plus I make youtube videos using emulators so yeah.

I did recently play through BS Zelda Map 1 on my SD2SNES, it was fantastic! It's heartwarming that 20 years later we finally have the tools to play a fully English-friendly release with the same audio as the original broadcasts. Truly shows how much good the MSU-1 and the various people who have developed for it have done for fans of the SNES. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your near two decade-long mission to keep these treasures alive.

Sammy102093 As a professional network administrator, I beg to differ. But there is certainly a whole bunch of people who don't. In fact, even some companies use "cloud" to define their services when it really isn't and they get away with it because people in general are clueless about the specific. I wont go into details about the specific requirements your service/infrastructure must meet to be worthy of the term "cloud", but for something to be "cloud" bidirectional communication is absolutely required. Which a plain old satellite television-like broadcast at specific times most certainly isn't. In closing, if there was "cloud networking" in 1995, this wasn't it.

+Riz2336 I don't agree with it for new games on current systems, cuz that's just flat out stealing. But with old games on dead systems? Yeah that shouldn't matter, bc 95% of the ppl doing it are playing old games that they are never going to buy otherwise, and they usually just sample them and never go back to them. It's a great way to keep old forgotten games alive. Especially old arcade games. It's not as if that person could even buy a full arcade cabinet from the actual company that sold it, and if they bought if from someone else, that developer's still not getting any money. So yeah. I think game companies should back emulation. Hell they could use it to get hype up for an old game and make a new installment.
