Amazing video! I must have watched it dozens of times since it was uploaded ... LOL, the news reporter about Robert Woodhead at 8:13 "another independent author to benefit from this short-lived cash bonanza ..."

I loved this channel back then - it was somehow different and more likeable than the typical KZfaq stuff of its era. Roo was the best! It would be so cool to see a legitimate "where are they now" video or something, but I guess he has a totally different life now and is not interested. Nevertheless, I would still recommend all his videos to anyone who wants to get into vintage console gaming today - his content and style aged very well!

Hello, I have a copy of Contra housed in a 5 screw cartridge shell with a handwritten label. It was included in my first NES System +games package my mother bought for me for Xmas '89 secondhand from a local independent video game designer/tester. I have had it since 1989 and l need to get it dumped to determine whether or not the board contained within it is actually an earlier prototype alpha/ beta test version of the game. It may only be just a sample/pre release copy that was given out shortly before final retail release. I don't know if the board i have is 4 sure a prototype or just a first print retail board but due to the Provenance of where it came from (a game tester) and the fact the label is handwritten and its contained in a 5screw cartridge type.. Contra as we know is a game released for retail in 1988 in the 3 screw/2 tabs rev.a cartridge type. The 5screw carts had been abandoned for at least a year if not longer before the retail version of Contra hit store shelves. So at the very least I believe I have the only 5 screw variant of contra in existence. Its the only one that I know of as I've never heard of there being any others. Which leads me to believe I likely have some type of early beta tester version prototype copy. Because its in a 5 screw cart I have been able to open it and take a look at the board and it definitely seems to be an early version of NES board. All dates on the board say copyright Nintendo 1985 or copyright Nintendo 1986.I think it has the oldest version of the cic lockout chip on the board too, but I may be mistaken on that. I know the cartridge itself predates contra's 1988 retail release for sure being that the game is encased in the 1985 5 screw variant. I would really like to have the game dumped and verify what exactly it is because if it is an early prototype of Contra and the only five screw known to exist I really would like to sell it at auction and try and make myself some good cash cuz I could really use the money for my mother's mounting eldercare expenses. SoCal retro gaming expo is next week do you think if I took the game there somebody would be able to dump this for me, help me verify all of this information to get an idea of what exactly I have here and then help me fundraise some big cash if i am thinking about selling this thing? What should I do or how do I go about this? can somebody help me please? thank you

I can imagine when this video originally uploaded, the miss-mentions of MCA as RCA would have likely been corrected via annotations

It's EFFING CRIMINAL that you gave up on this series you lazy bastard! It's STILL the best game content on YT. Mandalore and SSeth come close at times, but not with the regularity you have. And Basement Brothers at least covers older content. But God it's frustrating. Would money entice you? Like if you created a Patreon/Whatever and set certain goal amounts for episodes to be made I reckon there's enough of us left that know how good your content is and that it'd make it's money. And once you put out a new video that'd snowball your popularity etc and pay for the next and the next , etc. It's so effing selfish to be this talented and this content with your life decisions. Have some effing regret like a normal person and come back for a payoff like all the normal people failing to relive their glory years!

Actually what your missing is technically called LitRPG which is short for literary role playing game in where it is a RPG but more with a narrative story from a actual book or handbook and while the other one that you were also talking about were basically called graphical dungeon crawlers and the best examples would be the Ultima series and the Wizardry series and also you were using a borderline racist term as JRPGS and that`s technically a industry not a valid genre

You attributed Pokémon as having contributed to a phenomenon before it even existed. Shin Megami Tensai is what served alongside DQ and FF in the initial boom of RPG’s. Pokémon came out late 90’s, after the initial boom of the genre
