I also loved the teacher story! He lives on in the memories! This is a pretty grey! I planned to put Pelikan smoky quartz into a pen soon but that’s a brownish grey! I do like and have diamine moondust but that’s a shimmer, I think it doesn’t really count. I just checked and was shocked to see that I only have a sample of serious turtle and an old Montblanc black where I’m quite sure I added other inks to make it fun, might count as a grey!🤓

I love story-time! What a wonderful, heart warming memory about your teacher. Concerning grey inks: I love them too. Some of my favorites are: Diamine Graphite (a lovely greenish grey), Lamy Crystal Agate (the only grey I know, that has a yellow undertone), Kaweco Smokey Grey (has a nice brown undertone, which gives the ink some warmth) and Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun (when I want a grey with a cooler, bluish undertone).

all excellent greys, although Graphite reads a little too green for my preference! I think Lamy Agate is teh only one i need to try - I might have a sample of it from creepynibs though.

I love this ink! The splat is my favourite of them all. I have quite a few grey inks, they are my third favourite colour. I love amongst others Diamine Earl Grey & Silver Fox, Robert Oster the Grinch, Diamine Chichen Itza & *hrist the redeemer (atheist here so I blocked the full word 😇) & heaps more. Thank you for sharing this lovely colour x

At a reception for my retirement, on student said that I just told stories, and after a while, he learned calculus (from the stories).

As a fellow ink hoarder, how do you store all your inks? I saw you refer to an "ink cabinet" haha...I just have tons of stackable boxes which makes finding the one I want a giant pain.

I have some cupboards that have glass windows (it's in a "dining room" sort of area, so I think it's supposed to house/display fancy dishes and things), and I keep most of my inks in their boxes in that cabinet. I have had some spill-over, and some bottles live in a drawer under those. haha. my samples - don't ask about the samples, but they're in ziplock bags hidden all over the place. LOL I roughly know where bottles are, or what to take out to get to what I need, and the samples are a crapshoot. I just hope I pick the right one.

I had to go back and look to find what bottle I sent you and it was Moonstone. I love that Opal though, and you have sent me a sample I will use one day. 🙈 And your teacher story was amazing. What a wonderful way to learn. ✒️🩶❤️🖋️
