We begin in Williams, AZ - the Gateway to the Grand Canyon and the last town bypassed by the Interstate.
We drive thru Ash Fork, past the Oasis Lounge - here's a link to the video I mentioned: • Route 66 through Ash F...
Burma Shave signs on the way to Seligman and then Seligman itself.

Love this Video. I drove that route with my parents in their new 1954 Pontiac that year. Then rode it again on Harleys with my buddies in the 1990's. So much AMERICANA history on that route since it was established in 1926. Love it! Shared it with my RUSTY NUTS STREET RODS buddies here in Yucca Valley, CA.😎👍

Back in 2018 we drove east through Williams but did not have time to stop and look around. I remember thinking for the first time on our American holiday "I could live in this town" as we turned north towards the Grand Canyon. I am looking forward to getting back there for an overnight stay in May this year.

Great video Jeff. Williams was the only part I drove on RT66. Nice town. Was 17 years ago. Drove from Vegas to phoenix was a fun vacation. Sedona is incredible.

@@jeffthisted Also enjoyed your pronunciation of "Seligman". You say SELigMan and I (who learned to speak in Arkansas) say seLIGman. As a youngster I visited my cousin's in California. We were driving along a freeway and a sign showed the distance to the city of El Dorado. There is also an El Dorado in Arkansas and I thought that I would educate that Californians of this little fact. So my Arkansan accent blurts forth something like "Ayle DoRAYdo". Everybody laughs and quickly corrects me that it is "El DoRAAWdo". 🤔 A decade later I got the last laugh in them. Family member is getting married in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma so the cousins are reunited and now we are old enough to drive. Most of the extended family flew in, but mim and I drove from Arkansas. Mom says to take the cousins to get ice cream. Cool. We all load up and I drive us around looking for a place (no Google Maps...one simply explored back then). The cousins are seeing signs for several places that they've never heard of and they are butchering the names. Them: Wicheeta? Me: No, that's Wichitah (Wichita, Kansas). Them: Oh, okay. They tried a few more cities, and I let them know the true pronunciation and that they were from native tribal languages. The cousins are getting very skeptical of this and think that I'm making fun of them for not knowing how the locals say these words. I spot an ice cream place and say that we'll just go into the ice cream place and ask the people working there how to say these names. The cousins agree, as there would be no way for the ice cream worker to be in on my joke. We go inside to the counter and my "El DoRAAWdo" cousin asks, "Sir, we are not from around here, so could you very slowly and clearly tell me where we are?" The worker looks at us with some confusion, and I say "Go ahead, brother...lay it on 'em." Worker slowly says, "D a i r y Q u e e n". 😂😂😂😂

@@jeffthisted I read books about it someplace Jeff. People who do not read are just as ignorant, selfish, stupid and politically correct as intellectuals who are only narrowly specialized in certain subjects, that is it. Man. Just like there are only one variant of 747???? One type of car, bicycles, planes, no widebodies or narrowbodies? Is that it? You already know from talking with me here and Facebook that I sound like I use my brains a lot and sadly most don't. It is what it is. Sorry.

@@jeffthisted I read a lot about it that is why and I try to talk some sense into you about it. I am not drunk, but I don't feel like I know everything there is out there. IMHO, you don't see many people doing it, especially that uses their brain on here on talking with you on FB as well.
