Our airport is newer and the trays are on a belt that rotates back to the beginning….so they DONT want you to stack them or “put them away”. I’d say best practice is to listen to the agents and read the signs. 😊

The unwritten rules would be so much easier to follow if the written rules were more consistent. For example, at PHX, one terminal requires everything to stay in your bag atbTSA, the other terminal requires IT equipment to be taken out in its own bin, At most airports, you can return the bin, but I’ve seen it where they disinfect the bins first, so they don’t want anyone touching. Some airports require airline tags on your carry-on, most don’t. Some airports will not let you in the door without providing an official written ticket or itinerary (mainly India). Some airports, shoes on, others shoes off at security. In Thailand, I arrived at the HKT domestic terminal to take a flight to BKK…only to find this domestic flight left from the international terminal. Regarding where to stand when waiting for bags, I’ve become passive aggressive to those crowding the belt…if you are in my way when l8fting a 70lbs bag, sorry…your use of common sense is not my responsibility (RUH is the worst). And boarding zones have become ridiculous…zone 1 is usually 5-7 zones down the list called, after old people, children, VIP Eliite, les important elite, military in uniform, military active duty, first class, comfort class….zone 1. I’ve even been to airports where they do not use signage at the gate…only at the monitor. So, if there is a gate change you will not know until you attempt to board (old JED) and pass reader flashed red. Shortly after COVID, I ordered a coke in Comfort + and was told my choices were water and beer. WHAT? Coke was reserved for economy. Again, my point, is without any type of consistency, nationally or globally, I have no idea how the average traveler can be exp3ctected to follow unwritten rules, when the written rules are so mind numbingly asinine .

These are really helpful tips. Sure wish more people would follow them! Along with your recommendation of not touching things, I also bring the sanitizing wipes in individual packages and wipe down where I am sitting - particularly the arm rests and tray tables on the plane. And also pack an easily accessible bottle of hand sanitizer so that when you are going through the airport and touch those handrails, escalator rails or restroom door handles, you can clean your hands after.

Good tips. As much as I travel for my job I agree with these.The boarding zone one is a bjg pet peeve of mine. Know your zone and listen to the announcements. Another pet peeve is those who try to bring carry ons that are obviously too big or attempt bring on more than they are allowed to. If we all do our part to be responsible travelers things probably would be less stressful.

Thank you for your time and posting. Quick story. I worked for an airline and a first class ticket anywhere was US$24. I went to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. The plane left Seattle at 6am. I had a beer before San Fran. From San Fran to Mexico, I drank two bottles of wine. I got off the airplane and looked for a taxi, I didn't remember the resort name, but had the basics, before I got in the taxi, I blacked out. I woke up in the afternoon doing aerobics at the resort. I had a great time. :)

Re the rule about not standing close to the luggage carousel, I wish you had added in to double check that your bag is really your own bag. I once had a man take my bag and he was on the way out of the airport with it and he nearly hit me. I had to grab his arm to stop him and he was getting mad at me and his wife said, "Honey, it has her name on it." I had written my last name in GIANT block caps on the top of the bag....so yeah, I am one of those who puts colorful ribbons etc.... but I do wish more folks were more careful and checked the tags etc... So another Unwritten Rule could be to clearly mark your bag with ribbons etc... and when picking up your bag, make sure it is actually your own bag. And don't hit people who try to question you about it. 😕

In general you can adjust number 11 to only use your headphones to listen to your device if you wish to have a conversation with mom or anyone else then pick your stuff up and go to some hallway or area where there aren't any people around for you to bother again be self-aware and don't be rude. These people who talk on the phone in public, whether they're using speakerphone which is even worse but just in general they're barking into the phone when they don't really need to and they don't care about the people around them, people do it on buses people do it everywhere you can see them do it. It's gotten old and it's time for us to let people know just because you have a phone doesn't mean you may calls everywhere you go in public not in the doctor's office or in any waiting room this is also a good time to get up and go out into the hallway or somewhere where there aren't other people.

Knowing where your gate is located is important, but if you have more than an hour before your flight, there is a good chance there is a prior flight at that gate. Don't sit at that gate while another flight is in progress. Remember, Gate departures change frequently. It is often the timing and immediately prior flight that affect gate changes. If you are at an airline's hub, that airline has the majority of gates assigned to them and more likely to Change the gate depending on arrival time of the previos flight. Get notifications from your airline and watch the signage on the monitors. When you get off the first leg and have 2-4 hours before your next flight, do not assume the gate listed on the monitor when your first leg landed will remain the same. When I go through Dallas in the USA American Airlines uses all 4 Terminals. I have landed at C19 and my connecting was at C4. Short walk and Plenty of time. Then the announcement of a gate change to Terminal A-gate 17. After a few minures the gate changed back to Terminal C.

#7: I was at Midway, and I needed to sit to cool off. There were 6, count them, 6 vacant seats. I sit in the first and the woman across says “someone is sitting there” confused I move to an opposite seat and another guy says “someone is sitting there” ok. So 6 vacant seats in a PUBLIC terminal? People get ridiculously territorial. The second guy repeatedly verbally assaulted and threatened to punch me in the face…for sitting in a vacant seat. I reported their violent threats to the airport gate agent. They got a talking down to by security. People have HORRIBLE behavior in public.

Definitely drop the whole shoe thing because people are going to wear shoes that they like, especially women but also they're going to wear the heaviest and bulkiest shoes that they must take with them specifically if it's winter time, then they'll have a bulky jacket and many other things that will slow the process down for getting through the security check so really your first unwritten rule which is kind of written is to tell these people to get to the airport early enough so they don't have to worry about the schlab in front of them or themselves with the bulky shoes of the disorganized bag, it's really no big deal unless you're in some kind of crazy hurry to then go sit and be bored somewhere while you wait for the airplane to board.

And I am not wanting to just criticize all the time yes you got to one that is absolutely right it's just common sense go to your gate first almost always your gate changes, especially if you check in online a day early... There is virtually no chance your gate will not have been changed, more importantly I was just in Dallas and not only was my gate changed but the terminal I had to be in changed which is complete b******* from the airline, change a gate but not terminals it just takes too long it means you have to get on a train of some type and travel to this other terminal and then find another gate... Best tip ever.

Best rule number 16 due most are not prepared?
@robertstepp1072
@robertstepp1072 6 ай бұрын
Roll number 16 is always good as the boy scouts train both young man in women to always be prepared. At the airport yes be prepared for the worst which means expect them to lose your bag which they do regularly. I just had a regular flight returning from Germany to the States with a layover in Dallas. They lost my bag on the way to Dallas and I was lucky enough that the layover was long enough that they found it and it was at that airport so I could get it and check it for my short hop home, then they lost the bag again on my short flight home and I wasn't as prepared as we're speaking of, my car keys were in the bag it took 3 days for them to find a bag and the only reason I got it back after 3 days is because I just went to the airport, they did not call me as they said they would do and who on earth would trust them to ship it to you unless you don't really care if you ever get it back. So what this really means is you need to carry essential things on your person which is going to slow you down through the checkout because you'll have more things to empty from your pockets but you cannot put anything that you absolutely need in your bags, you can put them in your carryons but you better know, when the plane gets full they start looking at carry-on bags real close and force a lot of people to check a bag they did not plan to check. In my case I had to pay them $70 to lose my bag twice.

Number 12 you left out the obvious, wash your hands regularly at the airport and everywhere you go in life, definitely don't touch everything you're a grown adult may not a child... Also somewhere in this list you have to tell these idiots younger folks that wearing pajamas in public and especially at the airport is just unacceptable You're telling everyone you're just an idiot child who cannot dress themselves. It's not cool but if they want to wear them in school because it's cool, fine and dandy take it to school everyone will have a sleepover there. But in general pajamas and just two casual of clothes in public as well as the airport is not acceptable.

When it comes to unwritten rule number 15 I have some questions about that I was gonna make exceptions for people who are blind/legally blind/severely visually impaired, and are traveling alone and don’t have the physical ability due to not having the physical site to see the bags from so far away, because as a severely very impaired, actually legally blind person who has on occasion, traveled alone, and had to get the bag on the phone with very limited vision, I’ve had no choice but to be Rob close to be able to see my back when I got there because I can’t see more than 4 feet in front of me 2 feet if it’s a very bad eyesight day and that’s 4 feet on a good day to feet on a bad day with my glasses, so are we gonna make a dozen for those who are blind/legally blind for severely visually impaired, and are traveling alone, and won’t be able to see their own bags from far away if they have any say to see them at all or are we gonna be able with her and say that doesn’t matter they had to stay 10 feet back if they would see it with the limit so they have just curious oh and a second thought if you don’t say this later on in the video, another rule, that should be done for good boys don’t assume because somebody is young or does it ““ look disabled does it mean they aren’t and therefore does it mean they don’t need assistance to pre-board starts don’t need the time to pre-board once again take it from somebody who has experienced this multiple times over

I don't written the rule number 10 can be adjusted to don't sleep in the airport it's not a hotel, since you're going to have a long day of travel make sure you're well rested and you didn't skip sleeping or party for hours before you head to the airport. This is just normal you don't sleep at all stops or anywhere else in the world you sleep at home and in a hotel nowhere else really. Maybe you can doze in your car if it's locked up in a parking lot. Being well arrested also helps in that self-awareness you keep talking about which I totally agree with people have no self-awareness in general all the time. They just don't care.

Sadly these lists which they call unwritten rules, are really just things they want you to do so they can get through the airport faster. Some people don't live their life in a hurry and they do as their told so they get to the airport with plenty of time. I just went to Germany in the middle of winter so yeah I'm going to wear my big heavy boots and not put these bulky things in my bag that way so much so now I have to unless them and take them off at security checkpoint, and some people are just never going to be that organized... These are unwritten rules because they're not rules at all they're just things this guy wishes you would do so he could get through the airport faster. And in the end he might get through the airport two or three minutes faster, he showed up late and now he's in a hurry...

It's good that you're aware that all of this stuff is just crapped at bothers you when you keep saying oh you help everyone else no we're just helping you apparently and if you other people that are like you because you're not the only one that post these silly videos instead of ones with real good travel tips. Not everyone's in a hurry and rushes their way through life. Just get to the airport early enough and none of these things matter, but yes they'll be somebody in line who did not do this and will then be wishing everybody had their act together. Too bad for them. Also not every airport asked you to take your shoes and your belts off and various other things so you would not really sure what they're going to ask you to do when you get there.
