#16 Vlog: Great hike in south Iceland (Huldufjöll)

In this video I will show you a hike near Vík in South Iceland in a beautiful place called Þakgil. There are not many people that go to hike in this area so it is perfect for those who want to stay a little bit out of the beaten track.
The landscape on the way is stunning, but the highlight of the hike is without a doubt the view over the glacier and Huldufjöll.
Keep in mind that some parts of the hike can be challening for some people (shown in video).
The hike in total was about 16 km and the increase in elevation was approximately 500 meters.

Stunning videos - especially of the glacial rim. I'm too old and infirm to take this hike, and am grateful that you could take it for me. The Iceland ring road, with some gentle side trips, is on my bucket list! Keep these wonderful videos coming!.

The drone footage at the glacier was wonderful. I'm always nervous about flying my drone in Iceland. There are a lot of locations where it is prohibited and I don't want to break the rules when I am in a different country. I was flying at Fjaðrárgljúfur and a park ranger lady seemed to pop up out of the ground and shouted at me that I couldn't fly there. I thought it was okay because I saw no signs and it was raining and there was only one other car there. You hike was beautiful. The glacier footage was unreal. Thanks again for another amazing vlog!!

Fantastic images of the glacier on the cliff. I arrived in Iceland on Tuesday the 1st. I had planned to do this route, I hope the weather allows me, I have the track in the GPS. Thank you very much for the images and information. Regards Herman

Thanks for sharing!! Drone footage is marvellous. I am planning to do it around mid september. Did you encounter any sketchy/dangerous sections in the yellow trail on the way down towards Thakgil. Also, would you recommend doing it clockwise or counter clockwise.

You are welcome and thank you for watching! On the way down there are two sections that are a bit more challenging with narrow and steep path. It doesn't really matter if you do it clockwise or counter - both options are good.
