The $160 home gym had a certain charm to it, and although the weight and equipment was limited, you definitely had enough to get something going on. Also, I liked the Christmas Tree storage in there, too. The Mansion Gym looks like something Bruce Wayne would own (especially after you said it was under ground) to justify his physique when reporters come around.

the issue with building a home gym is less the actual equipment cost and more the cost on space to put it
@vyktrii
@vyktrii 3 ай бұрын
Agreed, imo building even a basic gym for a single person requires atleast 300sqft of space, and in any city such a space would cost alot, just investing the same amount of money in stock market would generate much more each year than gym membership costs
@esmee6308

100% I think if price wasn't an issue, but space was, I'd want one of those smith/cable/racks in one (€3k+) and (adjustable) dumbbells. But in order to give up my gym membership I'd probably want a treadmill, I hate dressing for the climate, be it sunburn-risk or icey roads, and I'd like a deadlifting platform (also for hip thrust just in case) or a very reliable floor. And then it's easy to fall down the rabbit hole of what else would I want.

A home gym doesn't have to be expensive. In reality, all you need is a pair of adjustable dumbbells, a bench, and a pull up bar. My workout equipment in total cost me about $300. Most of the good compound exercises can be done with what I've listed. You can use the bench for dips.
@NotTHEGREATEST
@NotTHEGREATEST 3 ай бұрын
Where did you get a decent set of adjustable dumbells, a pull up bar and a bench for about $300? I've got the bench and a pull up bar (the type you just screw into a door frame opening 😅), but every decent pair of adjustable dumbbells I've seen usually cost around that much on their own

@@NotTHEGREATEST I hunted for the cheapest shit I could find lol, they only go up to 15kg each but that's more than enough to work out with unless you're looking to build a tonne of strength on a low budget, in which case you'd probably be better off with a more expensive set or a barbell with extra weights.

@@michaelhebert1221I agree. But, all you need is a very heavy kettlebell, a pull-up bar, and a dip bar. You can do everything except pull-ups and dips with the kettlebell. Deadlifts, squats, shoulder presses, swings, bench (more like push ups), etc.

@@NotTHEGREATEST cap barbell makes plate loaded dumbbells that go to 52.5lbs. I got them on Amazon for $58 a piece. It's actually cheaper to buy 2 single dumbbells rather than a pair for some reason lol. Being plate loaded is a minor inconvenience but if you are going for low price that's as good as it gets. As mentioned space becomes a premium / problem. I just bought a Rogue foldable rack. Rep adjustable bench. Safety bars to use for rows. Rack comes with pull up bar and I got a V dip bar attachment. Barbell and weights up to 500lbs. Going to order ironmaster adjustable dumbbells next. Got some monolift hooks just to see how those will work. Not sure I'll ever have space for row / pulley stuff unless I buy a new home with dedicated space. I'd really like an attachment to do hamstring curls as my they helped my tight hammies in my commercial gym training a lot. I may just have to incorporate RDLs or some sort of stretching.

I have my own home gym. In my opinion, if you want to have your own home gym, the things you really need are: • Dumbbells • Bench (Adjustable) • Rack (either Half or Full, your preference; including pullup bar and pulley) • Barbell • Curlbar • Plates • Weighted Vest That's really all you need for the rest of your life. Personally, I also got a leg extension because I just love that shit. I went with hex dumbbells because I prefer to just have them smaller and resistant to being dropped, as well as not having to change the weight on them manually.

Holy shit a powertec, got one of these things for $300 CAD a couple years ago. Absolutely my favorite piece of gym equipment I've used in or out of the gym. The squat and pressing movements on it can get insane depth and are about the only things that never cause me any sort of knee or shoulder discomfort no matter how heavy I go. For the record I regularly load 4 plates a side on the squat and absolutely still feel it, you can go heavy as you want on this thing. You're sitting on the lat pulldown backwards btw. It's an extremely good feeling pendulum system, your arc here is backwards which will cause your chest to cave and an awful lat workout. The only thing that really sucks on this is the ab crunch is completely useless, and leg extensions you need a pad behind your back for ROM and you can only really go heavy enough for a warmup if you're strong.

When COVID hit, I ended up buy a bench, a squat rack, and then I just added weights and bars from walmart. My gym membership was $55+ a month. I ended up building out the gym for about 7-ish months of gym membership. I've bought cheap bumper plates as they come up on amazon or walmart.

I wonder if the hole in the mansion is for an ice bath. Could make sense since it's near the gym

@@thepotatolord3052still, for a family of maybe 5-7? It’s a bit too much. Maybe for one person also, that’s too big.

Treadmills/stationary bikes/steppers... just not needed! Go out for a jog/walk, ride your bike in the neighborhood, climb the stairs in the house. And with that court and what not.. yeah.. elliptical as the only "cardio" machine.. totally fine. Man, that gym... so soo nice.

I got that exact Powertech setup in my home gym, got it for free about 12 years ago from my father in law. It still works like it's brand new.

There is a similar hack squat machine at my gym to the one in the first gym and I don't use it enough. It's somehow easier on the knees while not being easier at all for the quads as a traditional hack squat machine. I can't remember which bodybuilder loved it but it is a very legitimate machice to use.

There's one on Amazon that doubles as a leg press and back squat for$799. I've been contemplating getting one for my home gym since I no longer do back squats.
