Rent in London is just too expensive. Anyone earning less than £1600 a month or £24K a year alone would struggle. Low income earners are priced out and have to live outside Greater London.

Yea, where she lives is probably zone 3, maybe zone 2 if it's southeast/east London. You'd be paying more the closer you get to central.

To be fair, it's a silly price to pay as you are not buying the house either. Fair enough if it's short term, but I would try to get something that costs much less, even if it meant I wasn't living in the most beautiful apartment. Imagine the bills as well. If she can afford it, then fair play.

And this kind of rental price is why if you were born and raised in London, you struggle and mostly have to leave. Or live in much less nice conditions. Most people need parental help to buy in London so if you don't have a top earning job and you don't have parental support you're screwed. It's massively unfair and unequal. Born and raised Londoners are the minority. The average Londoner has a take home income of £2000 a month. Things are messed up. I hate these stupid videos celebrating this. Seems like this trend was started by landlords tbh. It's just advertising and glorifying an overpriced market, a market which is causing real suffering. And before anyone starts on me: anyone born and raised in London is from London. If you aren't born here but stay long enough you become a Londoner too. Doesn't matter where your parents are from. My beef is with the landlords scalping people on the price, and the fact that we have no laws to stop them taking half your take home pay. I have no problem with people living here enjoying their homes!

You should look at the states... Buying a house at 26 was a nightmare. 110 year old house in great shape with awesome woodwork, but its nothing facy at all. And irs not in a bad area, but not a great one either. Every house and place I looked at outside of Rockford Illinois, was 150gs plus. 250 for a 2 bedroom ranch. Like. I worked my ass off. Still ended up being short and needing help.

I’m in love with your place! I absolutely love London. It was my goal to move there once I got a little more into my career. Unfortunately, I was stopped in my tracks by an auto immune disease that makes me weak and it ruined my career. And I had to stay in the states. But I never lose hope. And I know that I’m going to get better one day, and when I do, I am going to fulfill my dreams! London, I’m coming, I just don’t know when. You have a really cool place! I’m so happy you found a spot that is just perfect! I mean absolutely perfect! I have toured so many places there on business. And everything was so expensive. @@nataliebutler Nah because she looks like she lives in SE1 between London Bridge and Greenwich and a nice flat like this in a location like this is around 2000 pcm min so that’s why I said it’s cheap considering that in the Greenwich area a room in a shared house is already 900 pcm and that was the price before Covid.

I think my husband and I spend roughly 700 a month on food… atleast 200 per week anyway.

@@bomboo199 Rent prices have gone up so much in London I’d say that this is pretty standard but for the area I assume she is in she probably could have gotten something for slightly less but not by much

It looks like OKR, going towards New Cross or Surrey Quays. That view was very familiar.
