I love every episode. Really enjoy the aviation stories. Retired Air Force KC-10 Crew Chief. I enjoy hearing details of missions we supported with our tankers.

As a kid, I used to go work with my Grandpa, who was an aircraft A&P for Eastern Airlines and was retired from the NC Natl Guard as a rotor mechanic. He was one of the first helicopter mechanics trained for the NCNG in the 50’s. I wanted to be a helicopter pilot until I was 12 and had to get glasses. I live right next to Ft Bragg and have the luck to be able to see the Blackhawks and Apaches flying daily. When I went into the army in 90, I had a previous knee surgery and it reared its ugly head in BT at Ft Sill and I was out. I love listening to all these stories from you all and feel like I missed out on the brotherhood you all have. Thank you both for your service and being such awesome and patriotic Americans. Much love from Raeford 🤙🤙🇺🇸🇺🇸

Hey Ryan, just finished binging your podcast from start to finish and have loved every episode! I listen my entire day at work and it was months of nonstop listening. The experiences these vets have had is just wild! Any episode with Shrek on its own is just crazy too! Anytime you guys talk about Salerno I always reflect on my time there in 2013 with the 2-506 101st ABN. Despite never having to be in any gunfights, I developed a sense of security whenever there was Apaches watchin our asses on the FOB. Even had some A-10s covering us in the final weeks before we left that place. Appreciate what you do to get these stories heard, looking forward to the next one. Currahee. Air Assault.

4 seconds in ... 4 seconds out ... 4 seconds hold and repeat. That's what we (1st SOCOM, late 80s) got thought. Taking ones own radial pulse also helps

I can attest to the Balad stupidity. We had an AC-130 crew racing to an alert launch and the SP's tried to pull them over trying to respond to the aircraft to launch. Crew got to the aircraft and ran out of the van, the SPs stopped their pursuit then.

I assume the 160th does not use the Apache helicopter. Why is that? Thanks for the input.

At a guess maintenance needs (compared to AH-6 especially) and lack of inflight refuelling (compared to DAP).
@lappings1

Apache is a great attack helicopter but not as versatile as the DAP that can do both assault and attack missions

Lapping in his first interview or else it was Mike Rutledge or Clay Hutmacher ( not sure thats correct spelling😔) addressed this in a podcast. 64s are not a lot more useful than a DAP iirc, amd don’t have an option to carry customers. DAP is a 60 they already have them. Don’t have to have maintenance crews and parts for a whole different platform. I’m sure im forgetting something.

Just wanted to say Ryan you are in my top three of military content podcast. Please keep up the great work I would really love to see a local to me man named Dick Elgin from St.James Missouri on your podcast. He was a little bird and slick pilot from Vietnam he was in the high school to flight school program. He wrote a Book named Should of played the Flute. Please check in on him I think he would be a wonderful addition

Yep. The story about the ticket on anaconda is why i got out. I was on taji doing EOD calls 24on/24off and saw how political it got from march 2004 to march 2005. Youre spot on, the commanders who dont leave the fob all were trying to make a name for themselves by implementing their own bullshit policy.
