Just wanted to offer a correction about the q1. I don't believe the stock keycaps are pbt, they are actually double shot abs like the k2. Also, with the Q1, the hollow "pinging sound" you get from the board can be fixed through simple mods like the force break mod and the tempest. Id look them up, and if you have some duct tape around also try them. The difference between the stock q1 and these simple mods is night and day

Really appreciate it. Not sure where I even got that from, just doubled checked the site and you're right. I'll look into this, I definitely want to learn more about mechanical boards.

@@ColeCaccamise I agree with you there, the force break mod is the best mod that you can do to this keyboard while retaining the flex.

I ended up grabbing a silicone rubber sheet to replace whatever has stock in there. I kind of applied it wrong so I’m going to end up redoing it but it’s worked really well for how simple it is. Retains the flex as well which is really nice

Great in depth video! Hey also so I’m looking for a keyboard for my iPad 7 and since the Apple ones don’t seem very good should I go for something like the Logitech combo?

I watched this to get to know what I'm missing on my K10 (full size) from the Q series. I have an aluminum version, hot swapable and full RGB leds. To be honest I don't have any of the springy sound or clicky you mentioned on your K2. Maybe It's due to the aluminum body. My conclusion is that I saved $100 bucks and also got Bluetooth lol. The lighter keys on the Q1 does look amazing though.

Ditch the arrow keys and use vim. If you're too used to VS Code there's a vim extension on it too. I've been using vim for years and haven't touched arrow keys when editing code even once at home or at work. Makes writing and editing code 10x faster and more enjoyable.

What do you use instead of arrow keys? I've seen people use VIM, but never tried it myself :)

@@ElliotSveum up/down is k/j and left/right is h/l. Takes like a few minutes to get used to. After a while, you actually stop needing to rely on those too.

A lack of shine-through on the Q1 is unfortunate, IMO. The main purpose of a backlight on a keyboard is to see the keys. If the backlight doesn't shine through the keys, it makes the backlight essentially useless to me.

Is that white lit background from the white static or RGB option? If so do you see any off white keys when the RGB set to static white?

just tryin' to help yall out...gateron browns are not tactile, I own some, and I own some glorious pandas, I know what tactiles are. I would just say that browns are either superlinear-tactiles or just incredibly scratchy linears. I would just take some gateron pro reds (comes with the fully built keyboard). Something also not mentioned is the screw-in stabilizers that can sound amazing(with modding or lube) or if you are lucky they will sound amazing straight from keychron. Another thing to mention is that the keychron is now available with a rotary knob just like the GMMK pro, the q1 can sound great and have a bouncy typing feel due to its gasket mounting style! It also comes with a coiled cable as mentioned, but it was not in enough depth, what you are getting included with this already cheap keyboard for what you are getting there is a coiled cable that is braided with an aviator cable this grade of cable is worth around $50 on its own. I suggest you watch more videos on this keyboard or comment and I'll try to help for more information on this keyboard. :D

I got a Q1 stock from a listing for 130 dollars and my God, I don't think I can ever go back to a cheap keyboard. I will say you have to do several simple mods to get it to it's full potential but once you do, it's simply a pleasure.

@@ColeCaccamise What switches did you go for? I am looking at switches as well. I already have a set of Akko Rose Reds but they were mostly made for gaming so I got a bit of finger fatigue from typing. My current one has the stock Gateron Reds that came with it which are not amazing but have a good middle ground compared to the rose reds.

I bought now a K2 v2 with pbt keycaps, I think it's pretty solid upgrade from my six years old Quick fire. My future plans are to upgrade the letters switches with lubed holy pandas.

I made the mistake of buying a Keychron K7. What I received was NOT wireless (no dongle included) and, when connected by USB cable, many keys did not work. Keychron ignored all my requests for an RMA and a refund. Before buying anything from Keychron, think! Do you want to give your money to a company that treats its customers this way?

@@connorandersonjazz But the ad does NOT say Bluetooth, it says "wireless". Either Keychron does not know the difference or they are being deliberately deceptive. Regardless, they told me to return their junk for a refund. I did. Now they have both my money and the keyboard.
