Showing how I make bundles. This is a new hobby business, and I'm starting out with the basics. I've found a way to make quality, professional looking bundles without spending a lot of money for equipment. Take a look at my system and let me know your thoughts. Positive, or other suggestions are always welcome. I've also made my very first sale and delivery today! Everything went well.
Here is the link for the cling wrap that I am currently using:

Something to keep in mind. Let’s just say the firewood bundle with the labor etc. cost you $2.50 to package it up. The other competitors are over seven dollars, you’re at five dollars. If you would raise your price to seven dollars and have a demonstration like is on the tailgate of your truck, you might lose a few customers but you would probably double your profit. Let that sink in, you’re selling less wood, making more money, doing less work but your profit is higher. Just a thought.

9" x 12" x 16" is 1 cubic foot. You are giving them 1.3 cubic feet at 12" x 12" x16". They look great and it is a lot of wood for $5. Michael

Brad, I started watching your videos a year ago, and you inspired my boys and I to start a firewood business. We get the free hardwood scrap cutoffs from local cabinet and door manufacturing shops, cut them up and bundle them. We are out west, so hardwood is hard to come by. All the firewood at the gas stations is white pine that shoots sparks like fireworks, so oak and poplar are hard to come by for campfire wood. My boys make 20 pound bundles and sell the poplar for $10 each or 4 for $30 and the oak $15 each or 4 for $15. Business is good. Thanks for the inspiration.

I have an idea, in every bundle add 2 hand fulls of kindle and a free fire starter cube, when i say free i mean value added, even an elderly lady can handle that bundle, and start a fireplace or stove, one match light. On back of label print how to have a safe effective fire one match, for city slickers.Yer welcome, good luck, great job !

Double your price if you haven’t already. Better wood, delivery, more wood, local, family owned. That bndl EZ worth $10, at least your price shouldn’t be cheaper than what’s at your local market. This is cool though good stuff !

I've told these woodhounds a dozen times or more how good wrapped bundles look with a professional looking flyer in it and not one of them ever listened. For some reason they love the bags no matter what the cost. Yeah many of the big chain hardware and convenient store chains that have wood brought in from other places face FDA regulations on top of the cost and I think the wood has to be kiln dried to lower the evasive species risk. Here in upstate Ny you can sell your firewood within 50 miles of point of harvest. You get caught crossing state lines without the fda papers it's big trouble. I just subscribed so I'll see how it goes here.

Yup I use shrink wrap also. Your home made bundler looks just like mine. I think they sell store bought wood for more because it has to be kiln dried and USDA approved. Kills the bugs and fungus. Nice job keep selling those bundles

I got carpet tunnel hand wrapping a couple thousand bundles in a year. Bought the "Go Fast" wrapper for 2k delivered. 100% worth the investment. Yes you are giving value with a large bundle. But sometimes people aren't strong enough to carry it. I think mine are .75 face sf and can still get pretty heavy.

Hi Brad, Your honesty and integrity is going to result in you getting far more orders than you can imagine and along with that comes more and more work time. Before you know it you will be working 7 days a week and 12+ hours per day trying to fill the orders as repeat customers come back again and again.

Something you might also consider: Kindling wood. When splitting, I often end up with a pretty good pile of kindling wood from stuff that comes off the wood. Person buys 10 bundles, throw in a bundle of kindling wood to help them start their fires.

Great looking bundles! I do the same thing, my buddy welded my wrapper together and has a "T" stand for the bottom and is about the same height but I wanted a center support area so I can wrap on both ends and so far its worked out great. Mine also is 1CF but I sell them for 10 bucks, our local Lowes, HD and convenience stores are selling .6CF for 8-9.50 for that size. Im going to really focus on firewood next season and do less landscaping, Just bought a 2019 T590 skid steer and getting a grapple for it come spring so I have everything I need plus the tree company we work with, his dump yard is 5 minutes from my shop and all the wood I can cut for free and if thats not enough to persuade me to do more wood is another friend of mine is a log buyer and can get me log trucks of hardwood poles for 200 bucks!!!

Firewood bundles sold at convenient stores and such places here must to be kiln dried before it is legal to sale. It must be kiln dried to kill insects and fungus to keep them from being spread from one area to another. At camp grounds in the Nation Forest here also you do not want to be caught with "store bought" non kiln dried bundled wood, or leaving any of it behind (even partially burnt wood). It all must be taken with you when you leave.

I know you posted this a year ago but I’m only seeing it now. Great sturdy design for the bundler. I’m also about not adding extra costs that people are just going to throw away. Been doing firewood since Nov 2021 after my wife bought a firewood stack for $15 that would barely burn because it wasn’t seasoned 😂 I want to build a firewood stand and put it at the front of my driveway.

Guys, do you have your own forests or buy wood? I'm thinking should I start it too - I have some forests here in Central Europe, now firewood is crazy expensive, maaaaany people builded holiday houses so there are more and more potential clients.

@@Saeglopur89 some guys buy logs. Some guy gets free wood from their local tree service. Some guys just look on Facebook marketplace. I look on Facebook marketplace within a 25 mile radius. Saw what I need to in their yard and haul it home. Great exercise and some firewood as the result.

I live 150ft off the only two lane highway in my area...I can't ever hear myself think, unless it is 4am! As a side note I was watching your video because KZfaq has been recommending these to me left and right. A month ago a tornado blew down 85% of the mature trees on our 18 acres. I have anywhere from 700 to 900 full cord of wood laying on the ground. Always wanted to do my own firewood business but nobody wants to cut their own trees. Now I have no excuse LOL

Good-looking bundles for a great price compared to your competition. I like the info/business card you made up. It looks very neat and professional. Do you put the size/volume of the wood on your label? Here in Canada, I believe we're required to by weights and measures.

@@FirewoodattheFurnace Doing great! When I'm not fighting crime, I'm fighting friction. Mainly helping landscape and tree companies save time and money. We have a lot of wood in Annapolis and my son and I are researching how we could set up a small firewood stand. Came across your page. Great stuff!

Thank you so much for the videos and the information. Always had this hustle in the back of my mind and the info you are sharing is awesome. Just a basic planning question, how much space or area do you need to start or operate in? I live in a residential area and have 3/4 of an acre but can see this being better off if you have some land by the side of a country road somewhere. I would plan to start with bundles.

It depends how much wood you would be trying to sell. Gotta have plenty of sun and wind to dry the wood as quickly as possible. Take your time and don’t sell your wood too soon. Took me about 10 months before I sold my first piece of firewood. Glad it’s helpful to you!

@@FirewoodattheFurnace Right now I probably have 4 maybe 5 cords dry, split and ready to burn. Mixed hardwoods, I have built this up for my own use, but after seeing what you do I realize it is not much, we only burn about a cord a year. I see my problem will be staging and processing new incoming wood. Thinking I might have to find a farmer who might be willing to rent me a 1/2 acre of their field or something. I am in Maryland too, down south of Annapolis in Calvert County. If I keep this at my house I can see I will need to keep this smaller scale which is why the bundle idea makes sense to me. I have found some tree services who will drop wood every once in awhile but still running the numbers to see if this makes sense to run. I have a truck, a basic splitter and two lower end chain saws. I really appreciate your videos and channel, it has been a huge help. You are a good guy and happy you get your kids into this too. Helping run a business is an invaluable life lesson. Have you had any luck selling bundles to smaller independent hardware and grocery stores? Thanks Again!

I just started too. I will pass on feedback that I ve received if that is ok. Smaller splits. More flame, easier to add to the fire, shorter burn time and more option to make bundle the size you want.
