Sue Asquith and I tackled the question of how to encourage healthy habits in young children and soon realised it's a massive topic!
We talked a lot about the challenges of looking after the well-being of practitioners and how that affects the children they care for. We also discussed ways to help children, like making sure they settle in well, meeting their individual needs, and sharing this information with the team. Plus, we stressed the importance of the Key Person role and a range of other important aspects of supporting children's well-being.

In a setting i worked in we had a short time each week to have a WIFLE. What I Feel Like Expressing'. It was so everyone felt listened to. For someone like myself who is not very confident in speaking in groups it was a good thing.

I have found that putting myse.lf in a challenging learning role supports me in understanding how young people feel when put in a position of learning new things outside their experience. How vital it is to make everything relevant and exciting; how small steps must be acknowledged and how to mix challenge with the known. I am learning Greek and, apart from it being very difficult and extremely challenging, I am learning more about how to provide a safety net for young learners so they can dare to fly.

It is good to put ourselves in the children's shoes and appreciate that they may not be as confident as we might first think. Sometimes, children just learn to go with the flow. Good luck with the Greek!
