Your wish became my command. I am therefore comparing the standard 1700 RPM Light Wings against the High-Speed 2500 RPM version of them. This not only inlcudes performance testing, but also noise levels.

Do you prefer the standard 1700 RPM version or would you go all in and grab the High-Speed version of those Light Wings fans by be quiet!? 😅 How many decibels are TOO LOUD for YOU by the way? 🤔

All above 25 dB is too much for me to be quite honest... After a good examination, I found that Akasa makes seriously good fans - they don't have the looks, RGB isn't my thing to be honest but all the results apart form that speak volumes - very, very quiet and very reliable - I can honestly recommend the Apache series - best of all worlds, balanced quiet still keeping my aging AMD Ryzen 5 2600x between 29-32C idle and 65C with the lowest (silent curve) settings playing SWTOR on max settings (ambient temp. between 19 and 23C) - I am not an avid gamer but playing SWTOR can make them go more audible.

@@masternippleblaster Thanks for your feedback! It looks like I can tolerate a lot more fan noise at about 45 - 50 dB. But then again, when I'm editing or rendering videos, I usually have headphones on, so the noise level doesn't really bother me. In fact, my workstation operates at 60+ dB when stabilizing 4K video footage or rendering. ;) However, I'm very sensitive to irregular noise such as grinding or rattling. I can't stand that. xD

I intentionally got the low-RPM version and am glad I did. The performance is shockingly good and is nearly dead quiet.

Noise signature is way more important than dB level. A low dB fan with a terrible whining and/or rumbling sound, can be way more annoying.

it makes sense that more fins makes more noise but these fans are pretty silent when compared to other similar fans with the same fin density (if you will)

Thank you for this comparison, Nicolas. You've made up my mind on my next purchase: 3x120mm Light Wings PWM to go on the Silent Loop 2. Like you said, it makes more sense to go for the normal version when you aren't going to use the full RPM of the high-speed. On a 12700 non K, the normal ones should be fine I reckon.

They look nice and perform very well, but I warn you first what to expect because Fan LED light can be seen individually. Colours are not great but if you are using rainbow RGB they are fine.

@@ra4239 Thanks for the heads up. My second choice would be the Lian Li AL120 uni fans. They look much nicer, but the increased noise level will be a problem. I also found people having complaints about the Galahad pump.

@@Nicolas11x12English Lol, I recently learned about the new Lian Li Infinity fans and now I'm leaning towars those. It's clear that the Light Wings perform better and are more silent, but those Infinity fans look fantastic. It takes nothing away from your effort in this video, mate. Much appreciated.

After a lot of fans, I went with the Deepcool 120 Cf plus (1800rpm) on a build many months ago. Spec-wise, it is the best all around. Great AF and AP (better than Light Wing 1700), plus it has very nice RGB. The only thing that let it down is the noise at higher RPM. Looking at the 1700 Light Wings, it gets beat by the Deepcool CF Plus on every level bar the noise, so I cannot really bring myself to change 10 fans just for that. If Deepcool can just find a way to drop 5/6db off their next CF plus like fans, I would think they would be close to perfect.

I have both 120mm and 140mm light wings high speed. The 140mm bearing is noticeable loud at 50%. I have to turn it down to 40% for cpu at idle. I think it’s a design problem because I have no issues with the 120 mm fan. So I don’t recommend light wings high speed 140mm though.

Interesting, I haven't dealt with any 140mm versions of those Light Wings fans yet. Thanks for the feedback! :)

When you test for noise, dB level is not everything. Same dB level of different tones and especialy accompanied by rumbling sounds generated by engines without smooth rotating magentic fields because they cheap out on a 50c mosfet, can make a huge difference. INCLUDE AUDIO SAMPLES IN REVIEWS ...

@@Nicolas11x12English Is there that big of a difference I got the high speed for my new case which is arriving soon. Will the high speed still be okay as case fans?
