Thanks very much. I try to give people all the information that I would want to know before buying the product, things you're not necessarily going to get from spec sheets. It means the videos are a bit longer than most, but when you're spending decent amounts of money on hardware, the due diligence is worth it.

@@KOT-ANGRY Yes they will do a good job. They are slightly less powerful than the high-speed, BUT only when you allow the high speed to run fast and get loud. You can run the standard ones at full speed and they won't get loud and they still do a really good job.

although this is a year old, i appreciate that this is one of the few - if only videos that goes over the hub and how the lighting works. that was my biggest question as I'm not familiar with other eco systems outside of NZXT CAM. that is what is drove my interest in these as i know Be Quiet's reputation as a silent fan... now with RGB strapped to it. But no other video goes over how to change the lighting or what comes in the box and how to set it up. it's just an ordinary fan review lol

Thanks 🙂 Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned pro, not every product page (even official ones) will give all the details you might want to know before forking out a load of money for it, so I like to try and cover absolutely everything I would want to know. Nothing more annoying than some new tech getting delivered only to find it's completely useless for your use case.

Ah thanks man, really appreciate it. Had a lot of fun making it, so glad people find enjoyment in it. The fans are really nice, but shouldn't really be a surprise as be quiet have made some of the best fans for a long time and don't get the recognition they should. I think a complete lack of effort and of content goes someway to explaining the sub count. 😅 Those pesky things "life" and "mortgage payments" demand too much of my time and what little energy I have nowadays. I think it was a conscious choice to keep the light a bit more subdued than most. It would be too far outside their existing portfolio for them to be super bright, but they are expanding into lighting more. I was quite surprised how much lighting was in the 500DX. I do think there's more to come and we'll see fans with opaque blades and central lighting soon enough.

I wish i found this video earlier. I bought the 120mm high speed version and i think i will send them back for the non high speed version, the fans are silent below 70% RPM but any higher than that the motor becomes audible, it's nothing super loud but below 70% they're basically dead silent and i take that over 2-3 degree C. Worth also noting that i only tested one fan and it wasn't even inside the case, so they would definitely be a bit quieter inside the case. The non HS version seems to cool similar at lower RPM than the HS. If you want a super quiet system definitely get the low RPM version and if you want a more balanced system or headroom get the HS version.
@MakinComputers
@MakinComputers 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks 😃 I probably wouldn't exchange them. Like you said, the high speed at lower speeds are absolutely silent and at higher/max speeds are more audible, but no more so than any other fan of the same or higher RPM. They were quieter then the silent wings and ML120 at full speed. If you set the standard version to max and match it's noise level with the high speed, the performance will be very similar, but then the high speed has that extra headroom when it's needed and is still pretty dam quiet for a bit past what the standard version can do. If you just set the maximum the fans can reach to be 70% then they'll stay quiet, or if they're going on a cooler, put it at maxing at 70% at 90C then go up to 100% at 100C to punch the temps down if needed, but it really shouldn't be. If you're not going to be controlling their speed and just wanting to run them at max all the time and forget about them, then the standard would be good for that, especially for case fans. For coolers I'd want the extra headroom and potential of the high. I wanted to do more testing and really try and find better differentiators between the 2, but the problem is my dB meter only goes down to 30, which these fans don't register at for a good part of their fan curve. I may revisit this when I have a chance and maybe do it in more constrained environment where they need to work harder.

High speed RPMs are for radiators/cpu coolers, the low speed RPMs for cases (less resistance). I would stick with the HS version for your AIO. Just tweak your fan curves.
@MakinComputers
@MakinComputers 2 жыл бұрын
@@GregorMima Whilst that's true, there's nothing to say you can't use both for either scenario. The standard ones performed a lot better than I thought they would on the tower cooler and especially the AIO, being super quiet to boot. If you wanted fans that you could just leave at 100% all day everyday and not worry about noise, then the standard ones would be a good choice.

@@MakinComputers one advice. Keep it real. I know a lot of people are trying to make it with KZfaq, either as a hobby or make a living, but too many reviewers become untrustworthy eventually due to them being bias to at least one brand. How do these compare to the alpenföhn wing boost 3
@MakinComputers
@MakinComputers 2 жыл бұрын
I have never used them, nor seen them used in the wild to give an anecdotal comparison beyond what the spec sheets say. What the spec sheets and aggressive pitch on the alpenfohn fan blades do say is they will have more static pressure than the light wings, but at a cost of noise. Neither fan will likely require running at full tilt if there's sufficient rad area used and/or case airflow, so will likely not get to their respective peak noise levels, but there will still be a different between the 2. Depends on what you value more; outright performance or quietness. Also the frame design on the alpenfohn doesn't look like it would suit being used in pull on rads, if that's a requiremen.
@fokthewef
@fokthewef 2 жыл бұрын
Just bought 6 of those and the 3-pack HS was actually cheaper than the 3-pack NON-HS. Never owned any be quiet fans and never handled one but all the reviews and images shows that they are great quality products. I am replacing my practically new Enermax fans which, believe me, are not of a good quality finish wise. Looks great online but looks actually flimsy in real.
@MakinComputers
@MakinComputers 2 жыл бұрын
Be quiet are often left out of the conversation when it comes to upgrading fans, which is criminal as they've been making fantastic fans for a long time. I used an old silent wings 2 to replace a dead fan in a Corsair PSU that died and it's quieter than the PSU was new and that fan is a good 10years old 😅

Just make sure you take out the rear and roof fans out before attempting to install the motherboard and you'll be fine though. Once everything is in cable management is pretty easy too. @@aezrazer3020 Yeh the 140mm pure wings 2 fans it comes with are ok, they're quiet at full speed and will move a fair amount of air, but struggle when they have to overcome resistance. The set up you've suggested sounds fine. There's 140mm versions of the light Wings too if you wanted to replace the silent wings 3 that come on the silent loop 2. I would run the rear fan at low speed so it doesn't interfere with the radiator fans. Hello. I'm going to buy a Pure Base 500DX (i7-12700K but no overclock, RTX 3070 MSI Suprim X, Noctua NH-D15S cromax. black + 120mm fan). In your opinion, is it okay to replace the three Pure Wings 2 fans of the case with Light Wings 140mm fans instead (normal speed or High Speed, considering the dust filter), or with Arctic P14 PWM ARGB ? Is it enough to keep the temperature under control? Regarding the substitution of the Pure Wings 2 with the Light Wings, the Be Quiet assistance service mentions: "The cooling performance when replacing a fan, however, may differ. The specially designed Pure Wings in special sizes were developed for maximum performance as well as the lowest possible operating noise. These values may differ with Light Wings. To achieve a similar volume and performance on these coolers with Light Wings, the fan curve in the PC system must be adjusted manually."
@MakinComputers
@MakinComputers Жыл бұрын
Yes it will be absolutely fine. The stock pure wings 2 fans are made specifically for low volume and high airflow, but they do so at a cost of not having much static pressure. The mesh panels on the 500DX (which I reviewed for Custom PC magazine - issue 222) are a bit restrictive and do benefit from a fan with higher static pressure. Either the lightings or arctic P14's would be a good choice.

It's RGB done in a very "be quiet" way. A bit more subtle than most, in keeping with their general design philosophy and designed to compliment existing products. I think if it was more "ermahgerd, ALL THE RGBS" then it would look out of place in their current line-up. While these have the build and design of what you'd expect from a premium fan, given this is classed as one of their 'essential' lines, so I expect there to be more to come. And yeh, RGB Fusion sucks big time. If you want a single colour it's ok, but for everything else there's mastercard 😉

Yeh they're great on the silent loop 2. Even the standard one does a good job while being incredibly quiet, the high speed ones give you that extra bit of headroom though.

problem with these fans is that they aren't good for cases like o11d evo rgb where they need to be mounted on the side of the case as intake fans. The RGB won't be facing inside of the case.

@@FahadAli-eu8mq there's some lighting on the back, but not a lot. Depends what look you're after, these aren't for people who want the full RGB bling.

@@MakinComputers well I guess there pretty neat however I'm planning to use them in o11d evo rgb case and am not sure how the backside of the intake fans would look like on the side of the case

It's standard 3-pin 5v ARGB, so any software that can use that header. Either through your motherboard, some GPUs have an ARGB header for syncing and a ton of controllers. The fans are "dumb", in that the LEDs will not turn on until they receive a signal, so they won't interfere with the controller/software like some will, more like an ARGB led strip that happens to be in a really good fan.

Bottom line: over priced, and not even perform better than the stock cooler fans. Not a good start for be quiet bling fans.

I don't know how that was your conclusion from this. The Silent Wings 3 that are the "stock" cooler fans on the Slinet Loop 2 are be quiets most premium high performing fans, on the same performance level as other premium fans like noctua NF-A12x25, ML120 Elites, NB Eloops etc. For them to lose 10mm diameter from the LED ring and be able to keep up with the Silent Wings and ML120 is astonishing. Bottom line: they perform excellently and are similarly priced to any other premium fan.

@@MakinComputers My conclusion is based of 1. The ring design is not really unique, and you can find really cheap ring type RGB fan 2. It’s perform just on par and slightly worse than the ML120 that come included with the AIOs. Plus, the ML fan has been on market for long time. 3. It’s their choice of going ring RGB design that makes impeller smaller, so no credit here 4. The controller is basically just a hub without personalized UI to use 5. $89.99 asking price for triple pack is simply too much. At this price point, they should have used LCP for materials and RPM stablized IC for their fan motor, to make it more value.

1: No, it's pretty widely used. Be quiet have put their own twist on it with the small opening on the back and those cheap ones won't perform anywhere near as well 2. The ML120 RGB ELITE Premium they were tested against only come on the Elite LCD AIO. They are not the same as the ML120 pros that are on most of their RGB coolers and will cost you $120 for 3. 3. How can you not give them credit for some incredible engineering? Yes it's their choice to have the ring, because it fits better with their general company aesthetics. The alternative would be to have central LEDs, use a bigger hub where you're not going to lose as much performance as he outer perimeter. They chose the difficult option and still pulled it off. 4. Yeh I agree with you on this to an extent. A better option I think would have been to have RGB and fan hub in one, so all the wires for the 3 fans could be managed together and terminated in the same place. I don't mind so much in them not having their own software, given the trouble companies with huge RGB ecosystems seem to have in getting them to work consistently, but for the fans to come without any way of getting the LEDs to work on their own is not good. Even a simple control unit similar to or the same the one that comes with silent loop 2 would have been better than nothing. 5. It's the going rate for premium fans with premium performance from a premium brand, let alone adding RGB tax onto them. Cheaper than the ML120elites too, although without the backing of iCUE. There are cheaper alternatives from cheaper brands, as there is with anything. Liquid crystal polymer is becoming more popular, but how much benefit it actually provides other than epeen is difficult to say. You'd need fans that were identical besides the makeup of the plactic and that's never going to happen. They are PWM not DC controlled. Cheaper alternatives are available, same as anything in life, but you know the saying; buy cheap, buy twice.
