This Video is a compilation mix of Part 1 (Mini Tour) of the Community & Part 2 (Wisdom from the Founder) combined, for those that may have never heard of "Hui Mahi' ai' Aina" or if this is your first introduction to building a self sustaining community off the grid to help w/ world poverty & homelessness/"houseless."
In Part 1 of this video, you're going to be taking a mini tour with the Wai'anae Kupuna Council & Pikachu, as we explore what works in this self-sustaining community & what best practices you can bring back to our own community to help solve homelessness and provide affordable housing solutions.
In Part 2 of this video, you're going to be with the Wai'anae Kupuna Council & Pikachu, as we gain wisdom from Aunty Blanche, founder of "Hui Mahi' ai' Aina" as she tells her story and explains how she built a working self-sustaining community to help solve homelessness and provide affordable housing solutions.
On the East Side of Oahu, H.I., they are making it Work 💪 and are highly organized. In this community you will see how they are taking care of the houseless via Shared Community responsibilities.

This is a Great 👍 Well Organized Systematic Community with Rules and a monthly Program Fee (Instead of calling It Rent)
$125 (Gas, Electricity, Water, Waste Removal, Propane)
$50 (Food) unless EBT (Shopping List)
Total $175 = Affordable Housing
2 Meals a Day Served (Breakfast & Dinner)
Communal Kitchen and Duties
GED Classes/Carpentry Claases/Admin/Drug Testing is done on site as well as ID, SSN, SNAP assistance.
Portable potties are cleaned twice a week.
($125/weekish as part of the program fee finances it)
⛽ Electricity is run by Gas Generator & some solar

DESCRIPTION of "HUI MAHI’AI ‘AINA"
Who We Are
A. Mission Statement
To improve the quality of life for those in need and the houseless in the Waimanalo community.
B. Purpose
Physically increasing accessibility and cultivation of healthy food, as well as providingeducation in nutritional management.
Socially, by providing education that promotes social capital and opportunities for the disadvantaged and houseless.
Economically, by developing sustainable food sovereignty and re-capturing food waste, thus creating a sustainable eco-system, and per-capita farming productivity, in support of revenue streaming capabilities.
Cultivate, support and enhance growth thru participation with community and native Hawaiian cultural practices.
C. History
2014 members of St. Georges Catholic Church, Waimanalo establish food bank outlet at the church’s community outreach center, in Waimanalo town. Hui Mahi’ai Aina is established as a Waimanalo sanctioned Food bank outlet
2015 Hui Mahi’ai Aina is established as a non-profit with the Pu’a Foundation a Hawaii 501(c)3, as fiduciary agent under its umbrella policy.
2015 Hui Mahi’ai Aina Feeding the needy and homeless program begins in part with St. Georges Church, Waimanalo Clergy Council and community partners, to outreach to all houseless and needy individuals and families in Waimanalo.
2016-19 Preparing to manage a 14-acre parcel of land set aside primarily for cultural, agricultural and housing assistance endeavors. Working with agencies such as USDA Oahu District Soil Conservation Service in preparation of site maps inclusive of topography, hydrology, wetlands, and soils and their designations.
D. Vision
To offer housing and culturally appropriate best practices, to assist the houseless in the Waimanalo community to become self-sufficient, employable and independent ‘thru collective management of their land and its resources.

Nothing is free and I don't want to reduce my life to begging. I educated myself and worked hard to reach the level that I'm in now. I came from a poor family, am part Hawaiian and remember Waimanalo, when it was mostly sugar cane. I live in Texas now.
