@@JCDofNYCLmao I've lived in williamsburg for 4 years (which is literally the closest part of brooklyn to manhattan) and I only pay $350 more than her for a 1-bed and I work in Chelsea (the other side of manhattan)... My commuting is literally less than 30 min💀 Some people are just dumb and it's okay to say it.

@@Spidr-Man Technically, I'd say DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights are closer to Manhattan than Williamsburg... To-MAY-to, To-MAH-to... But to your main point, you're absolutely right. (By the way, if there was any misunderstanding, I consider Brooklyn to be "in the city". My point was not directed at those who live in the outer boroughs (except perhaps Staten Island), but Jersey, Long Island, Westchester, or Connecticut. I've lived in three apartments in the city, all in Manhattan, for over 40 years. My first place was a three level loft in the East Village that I paid $590/month. It was huge. Later moved to Tudor City (purchased co-op) and then the Lower East Side (purchased condo). Since work, friends, and all my past times were located in the city, moving to the burbs was never even a consideration. I have a couple motorcycles, so it's easy enough to get up early Sunday morning and get out of town when the walls start to close in.

@@boboa7463 I totally agree but I lived in NYC all my young life, born there! Born in Brooklyn and raised in Washington Heights. My mother’s rent was $400 or less for a 3 bedroom apartment, top floor, 6th floor walk up , no air, no elevator! What is so sad is that they are tearing down the history of NY, beautiful architecture and replacing them with modern monstrosities! They are tearing down beautiful gothic buildings, churches which is so so sad!

I used to have a studio apartment in nyc on 59th st for $354 a month including utilities. This was back in the late 80's. It's 2 blocks from central park, 11/2 blocks from the Lincoln center. Those were the days.

Craziest part is they prob want $150,000 min income, first and last month rent and 3 months security to move in. And a min 750 credit score. Continues to amaze me what they require for these entry level apartments. Just like in florida to buy a $100,000 condo, u need 750 credit, proof of $100,000 funds after purchase, all this crazy bs. They make it impossible for some people. Like don’t get me wrong I understand if it’s like a million dollar mortgage. But the mortgage payment on a $100k condo u can pay everymonth prob just by collecting cans ffs

i paid around the same price in 2020 for a 3 bedroom apartment with vaulted ceilings in Florida with amenities like a pool, gym, spa, dog spa and park, propane grills, arcade room… 10 minutes from the beach.. for $1800.. this is insane.

Florida's incomes are significantly lower, and the cities aren't islands with no space. Everyone here has to fight for everything cause there isn't any space, and people are still buying up property. The rest of NY is pretty affordable, just not the NYC area.

I paid 1100 for a small studio on East 3rd and 1st avenue back in the day. It was a tiny square with a galley kitchen. You could hang out on the fire escape where I had plants and Christmas lights.

Been there many times since & it’s never been any better. Add to that the drug infestation, rampant crime, barely any police response because of huge cutbacks etc. yeah...no thanks 🤷🏻♀️

St. Cloud here - just north of Minneapolis. I pay $645 for a one bedroom with all utilities included. It's about 535 sq. ft. & a little smaller than I like but definitely affordable and more comfortable than the micro mini she has!

Wow! I know New York City is expensive, but $1,750 for a postage stamp size apt. is crazy. She's paying $700.00 more per month than I pay for my home on 8 acres in the Northern California Redwoods and California isn't inexpensive either. Too claustrophobic for me, but lovely is she loves it.

From Hong Kong - This type of apartment is called sub divided flats in Hong Kong, and rent for these are for 80 to 120 sq foot are between HkD 6500 to 8000 (equivalent to US$850 - $1000). But $1750 In NYC is just way to much. It.s crazy. Best of luck to this lady.

It looks like her bed is on hinges & folds up flat against the wall. But it looks like when the bed is down it blocks the apartment door from opening at all. That makes it completely secure from break ins while she's sleeping.

I live in a 4 Bedroom it’s a Railroad apt, remember those they still have them, 4 bedrooms one bathroom and medium kitchen living room and I don’t even pay 💰)1750.00. I live in New York City..Something needs to be done with Government/Landlords, it’s disgusting what’s being done to people..

I lived in a bachelor mini studio like this in La around a pricey area for the same price. Price sucked for the space but I loved my area and commute to work. Plus the price being under 2k wasn’t terrible for my income either. You can make any place feel like home if it’s home to you! This seems like my kinda place. Cool vid!

Amenities were included like gym, common rooms, locker, parking, utilities etc so places like these are sometimes a bargain for a particular lifestyle

Last time I was in Bolivia (2012), we stayed in a private hostel room triple the size of this for $1/night. And unlike NYC, that town was free of crackheads randomly punching women in the face.

Damn with those 1,750 you can be doing payments for a two story house with 4 or 5 bedrooms. Nice back and front yards and great space inside too and for even a few hundred less. Here in Arizona is what a house monthly payment is adding all the payments with water, electricity, gas and the rent is around those 1,750.

I was paying about 1750 for a 95 sq ft studio in dtla, it was a nice to have a place there but such a ripoff

I feel like for these micro apartments, if you have a shared big kitchen per 4 rooms, that could give everyone more space since they wouldn't be squeezing a whole mini kitchen in each apartment. And maybe a shared bathroom per two rooms

There are tiny apartments in places like Japan but they have really cheap rent and eating out is also affordable, which makes their apartments worth it. 1750 is still very expensive and I can guarantee that it’s more expensive to eat out as well (because you wouldn’t cook) ಠ_ಠ
