In search of graphics we lost gameplay

SvR 2011 was my first ever WWE game. In 2013 when I first discovered WWE, I got myself this game and this was such a beautiful time back then. The Road to Wrestlemania mode, the awesome animations like the break of the pinfall by a mate in a tag team match, the hot tag animation, finisher animations, putting the opponent onto the top rope with the groin and then move the rope up and down and so on. One of the best wrestling games to me.

I miss the old blood physic where it gets worse overtime and some of the blood actually gets on the opponent.

The weapons physics system that Smackdown versus Raw 2011 had has been sorely needed back in the franchise for over a decade now.

In my opinion SvR 2011's feature set should be the bare minimum when designing any wrestling game. Anything less is just being lazy (though in the case of the 2K series, despite being a pretty decent sandbox, they don't want you to have tools to make your own stories because that would take away the incentive for you to buy the same game every year). It also boggles the mind that no other wrestling game has ever recreated the incredible physics of SvR 2011 even with today's available technology.

Newer games look better, older games were (for me at least) more satisfying to play. If this game had 12 universe mode booking, 13 universe customisation and create a story scenes implemented into it's universe... add in going backstage before and during matches and some alternate backstage areas like the hctp one then we might as well just be getting updated rosters and features rather than a new game each year.

i wish they bring back these features from 2011 and the omg moments it’s crazy that we can do more things in older games than the latest games

Create-a-Story was the best feature, and after ten years, I still can't accept that it's gone. My friends and I would make entire shows with funny dialogue and characters and spend hours every week just watching them with each other. We did this for years. It was better than real wrestling.

I completely forgot how great SVR 11 was, I know the all time great SVR game is 06-07, but SVR 11 was so amazing. I played it throughout the whole year, I loved how they kept all the features from HCTP

SM VS Raw 2011 was my favorite game on PSP. I loved backstage brawls and Road to Wrestlemania. Played that 24/7 as a child. I miss those times 😢.

It's shocking that game this old still better in almost every aspect than new repetitive games by 2k

The Backstage Brawl of WWE 2k will never hold a candle to SVR 2011. The amount of interaction I get to do there was the main reason Backstage Brawls was my favorite match type in SVR 2011.

Play Mode was tied to Universe Mode in SmackDown VS RAW 2011 so that's why I spent my time on Universe Mode and Road to WrestleMania.

THQ is better than 2K ✅

I miss Road To Wrestlemania. MyCareer isn't bad (shockingly), but nothing compares to what we experienced in RTWM

I grew up with svr 06 and svr 07 and still play them to this day. I heard a lot of great things about svr 2011 and i just bought a copy for 15 bucks. It'll be here in a couple days I'm excited!

11 really was the peak. 08 was my first game still perhaps my favorite, but the additions in 11 were astonishing, truly a Wrestling game masterpiece.

This game is the standard for how much creativity sports games should let their players have

This game was awesome still is I can recall one of my friends had it and he changed the divas move set and they would be doing finishers like rko, rock bottom , choke slam, stunners during hell in the cell i didn’t know you could do that 😂

SVR 2011 was awesome, I remember getting it back in the day and would play it for hours on end. I personally loved the addition of the universe mode, felt like I was actually running things and you could change stuff too. Though sometimes I would roll with what the system gave me to make it feel like I was working with what I was given, like with an actual wrestling show. Those were the days. I haven’t gotten a WWE game in forever, but I’ve heard they’ve definitely gone down hill as of late.

SvR 2011 is still one of my favourite WWE games, it was the first WWE game that i played non stop as there were so many good features and stuff to do in this games plus the matches were always fun to play especially the ones when you add weapons.

I was playing the 2010 part before the 2011 game was released, and when THQ made the greatest part, which is SVR 2011, and the game was released that year, everyone was shocked by the strength of the graphics, the story, the mode, and the interaction. The story was a very beautiful thing, especially when you enter the backstage and see the wrestlers talking, you talk to them, you wrestle with them, and some enter. The rooms contain the Undertaker and the masked Kane, something that makes you excited as if it were a real thing, but unfortunately when THQ sold the game to the 2K franchise, it became just a game without any enthusiasm or any physics and realism. Imagine that you are playing a game released in 2011 that is better than a game released in 2023 in terms of story, graphics, and the shapes of the wrestlers. Even the circuits here are well aware that everything beautiful has ended. I still miss the old games. Sometimes nostalgia for the past makes you forget the disgusting saliva that comes out nowadays.

Create-A-Story is what I miss the most out of it all. These games were so dang good every year, and 2K just doesn't listen to us.

Smackdown vs raw 2011 was way better than 2k23 with features. Maybe they will start doing better with 2k24. My expectations are higher with that.

I used to be a WWE fan and when I play recent 2K games I feel like there is no mode other than simple quick match that can satisfy me. I miss so much the Road to Wrestlemania, Break the Streak modes or the one where you were back in time and followed some story from past. I understand that if the game has success, it means that people like it and maybe that is something with me but hell, new modes are so much worse to me.

Will always love SvR 2007, best roster!

Everything changed once they went 2K

A few years ago I ordered SvR 2011 for Xbox 360 (I have SvR 2011 for the Wii but I no longer have a GameCube controller or nunchucks) for some reason was send SvR 2008 instead. (It was from GameStop during covid, the games also took forever to arrive, tried to appeal it as well and nothing was done about it)

In the past, wrestling games (and the gaming world in general) were as if each version of them was a family restaurant, expressing their passion for the work, their love for what they do, and popular culture. Today it's like a fast food chain that offers standard quality, basic service, boring changes, and makes a profit anyway.

This was my first WWE game I bought. I had it on wii. This game was so amazing bro. I loved everything about it. And everytime you would open the game you would hear I WAS BORN TO FLYYYYYYYY I WAS BORN TO WIINNNN. Good days. Definitely a top 5 WWE game oat

SvR 11 is the most criminally underrated video game of all time. So customizable. So…. Working.

SVR games were great but i still miss the pure carnage&fast paced SmackDown Games. Doing an RVD finisher off the top of Times's square building is still the peak WWE gaming for me.

Another addition they need to return is individual wrestler sounds of pain during matches, I think it was WWE 12 that had some wrestler sound effects during matches Kane was one of them and others rather then all wrestlers having the exact same sound effects during matches

The only thing that was missing in SVR 11 was Jeff Hardy... 💔😞

My first time was playing wwe game and i played this game on ps2 but i can tell the difference ps2 had low graphics but so many interaction like crowd moves grab the weapons from crowd just u can't fight in crowd area in ps2 but now days they removed so many things from the game they made the game works like ps2 on ps3 and ps4 works like ps3

SVR 11 > Most 2K WWE games.

This definitely had a lot more thought put into it. My only issue was the poor collision detection.

If 2K was smart they would bring back Create a Story. You gotta do all this time consuming editing in the current games. Since Universe barely works you can't even use that to help. You'd see a lot more Universe videos on KZfaq if we didn't have to jump through hoops.

the 2k23 weapon physics are the best since SVR 2011 they’re so close to getting it right hopefully for 2k24

Weapon physics and stacking tables weapon moves.....diving finishers off of the chamber pod and ladders I miss.....

There is one weapon move in 2K23. Exclusive to RVD is what I think is called the Van Assassinator (man's got too many gimmick moves, what the hell is the Van Crushinator?) done with a steel chair. A downgrade from every weapon having a special grapple, of course.

Back as a kid my first taste of wrestling games was WWF Smackdown 2! on Ps1. Next one I tried was SvR 2009 and the last one was SVR 2011 which to me is the the one and only but that's just because I never played SvR 2007 or tried WWE 12/13. Bottom line is that I'm biased to games developed by Yuke's and there is a good reason for that!

When I first saw the entrance of undertaker in SVR 2011 Game, I thought it was real. To produce those type of graphics in 2011, is required to be appreciated. Regards,

To be honest, while SvR 2011 and WWE 2k14 had a soul, new WWE games have not.

I did play all the SVR since 08 til 11. I have had a lot difficulty on 2k23.

I had some great hardcore matches on xbox live with other people when it didn't lag. Too much fun, great times!

2K just took a U-turn from the physics.. THQ was too good in all aspects.. miss those games man!!

One time set up 4 tables outside the ring, 2 stacks of 2, and my brothers were on a ladder fighting for the brief case, and I pushed the ladder and they both fell, breaking through all 4 tables. I had it recorded and saved too

The PS3 WWE games looked so good pre-WWE '12, but ever since that game the graphics took a huge dive.

Also you can use a custome song, plugging in an USB with that song and import it to your console, then select it from the game Could be for any WWE superstar/diva or your own character I want that option for 2K23 soon or 2k24 I miss it

I grew up in the era of the best wrestling games like no mercy and Here-comes the pain the true fun arcade style wrestling games and never been a fan of stimulation style games but SVR 2011 was unique for its controls and customisation and especially road to wrestle mania 🔥 They messed up again right after wwe13 was launched. Just hoping for AEW fight forever to get more updates it already got the best gameplay experience right after HCTP 💯
