We were sent the new Craftsman Overdrive 121-piece set. The wrenches and sockets include the Overdrive technology that will loosen fasteners that are up to 70% rounded.

Grew up with Craftsman. I remembee when thats all that was ever needed.. Die hard Craftsman fanatic thanks to my old man. Sadly... the passion died when Sears ran it to the ground. Milwaukee and Snap on now. But still holds a special place for me thanks dad.

I know much of Craftsman is not made in the U.S. but what Stanley is doing to revive the brand is great. I would hope one day America makes it's own tools again but like I said Stanley really is doing a good job. It hurt when Sears was ran into the ground and to see an American tool brand that started in 1927 die with it.I still have U.S. made Craftsman tools, ratchets and wrenches that are well over 20 years old.

The wrenches seem to resemble MAC's RBRT wrenches, also sold under the USAG brand. If they actually are the same wrenches, it's a good way to get them for a cheaper price.

Can’t stand when companies put in garbage filler tools in their socket sets
@boosted2.4_sky5 ай бұрын
Surprisingly this set only has the bits you need..not sure they went overboard in the junk bits in this one.. the wrenches and sockets look decent...imo could use a better bit driver handle.. this looks like the standard undersized junk handle

The filler is annoying. I researched the black Friday sets a few years ago. Gearwrench had no filler. I wanted a set for one of the vehicles but ended up taking it to work. I like the ratchets more than any of my truck brands. The sockets are just as good. I bought a gunmetal chrome craftsman kit to give them another chance after the whole sears thing. The sockets and wrenches are okay. The ratchets suck and are nearly impossible to replace at lowes. I stopped trying after a couple times. The blow molded cases are nice though.

Those ratchet heads look huge. What's old is new again. A long time ago, MAC tools sold MAC Edge sockets that had the same Anti slip design as the Overdrive sockets. The Overdrive wrenches resemble the new RBRT anti slip design at a much lower price. Thanks for sharing..

I believe Mac is also owned by Stanley. So maybe there is something to it.

You're correct, it's the same RBRT (MAC) technology brought to the Craftsman brand. Stanley Black & Decker is the mother company to MAC and Craftsman.

I am also one of those who uses motor oil in all of my ratchets....Not used,but new motor oil....Plus with oil,you never have to worry about the grease drying up and getting hard.👍

Your my 4th video on overdrive tools, im 44 and have a 25 year old set of Craftsman. Time to upgrade, seems im buying RBRT for fraction of the price. Im get the big set. The 200+ set that is around 350.00. No skips on wrenches and sockets All RBRT. Im see how it goes first. If i need to buy more RBRT, im supplement it with GearWrench Bitters. Letsssss Goooo!!

It blows my mind that tool companies are still using rubber grommets in spark plug sockets. Even high-end tool companies are doing it. Why? We all know how much everyone hates those dang rubber grommets. Magnetic bro, magnetic.
@natewhite23452 ай бұрын
for 200$ honestly not bad. Not sure why everyone’s so mad about wasted space or “filler tools” it’s what every single tool set does because it’s meant to be a carry around and meet all needs type of set. This is a pretty stout set especially with every socket having extra grip and flank driver rbrt style wrenches. Amazing job craftsman.

The old ratchet reminds me of the brushed finish of the Wera wrenches

Correct, a lot of the same technology too. Stanley Black & Decker is the mother company to both. Thanks for watching.

facom ratchet it looks like also stanley owned basically 2 90 tooth ratchet with a 1/2 tooth offset so 180 clicks per turn

How do you get 90? I counted the teeth on mine it’s 180

That’s funny how the Milwaukee wrench couldn’t grip the bolt head, I have no problems gripping rounded bolt heads and nuts to the degree that Craftsman had there. My only issue is that everything is all 6 point. I work on aircraft and they use 12 point hardware. Unfortunately the Overdrive tools won’t work for me but they do look great!

I have a craftsman ratchet that I bought at Sears and now all of the Sears stores are out of business and I have a broken ratchet that needs to be replaced. So what do I do?
@twallt2 ай бұрын
Call the Craftsman main number if Ace Hdwr or Lowes won't replace it. I took a 1/2 inch breaker bar to Ace Hardware. And they would not replace it. Because I had to prove that I bought it at Ace Hardware. So I called the Craftsman number and they sent me out another one. I did not even have to mail them back the broken one.

I used to love craftsman. I stop getting them after sears closing. I went to a lowes and the would take my broken tool at first. Have me such a hard time, ace hardware did too. So I switched to husky and Milwaukee

The wrenches and sockets look good. The ratchets are what I don't like. I don't like the design and shape of the handles and the size of the head of the ratchets. They need a cleaner designed ratchet.

How did a wrench with the same design not turn that bolt previous to the craftsmans wrench? The math isn't matching here...
@GregsAutomotive5 ай бұрын
There was no wrench with same design. None at all. I went back and rewhatched. I can confirm it works better. There are wrenches with the same shape but do not have the grip design built in its crow foot (open end) that wont grip stuck tie rod ends (even if glowing hot). But overdrive will. Craftsman always been my go to tools. Never fail me. Not saying i have not broke any :)
@Darkcruzer235 ай бұрын
most manufacturers have their version of this in the open end, but most fail miserably at it. torque test channel has tested and proven that. i hope these are better but i wouldnt hold my breath

Im cool with filler tools…… usually can make use out of em. Or trash old ones if new one is better bu t not spark plug removers with rubber gromet are not welcome.

Anytime I see a ratchet that has the screws coming in through the backside of the ratchet instead of coming through the front side, I know it's cheap crap. Anytime a ratchet is held together and assembled with the screws through the backside, it's going to be absolute garbage. Guranteed!!
