Hi Skaters, I've always loved jumps, artistic jumps where the first discipline of Artistic Figure Skating that I learned and then entered competitions. I got up to double jumps and landed a double Axel and attempted the triple Salchow. Not sure I'm brave enough to try that these days, I need my arms to drive my girls to school!
This video gives you the first steps to start artistic jumping on roller skates. Be careful with this one, only try it if you have all the fundamentals locked in.
See you next week skaters

Another great video. You are a very good teacher, Katie. You make everything so clear. The production standards of the video are so high, too, so thanks to the production "team" (of one, I gather! 😊).

Oh Katie, why do they always look so easy! Every time it's "yeah, I can do that!" (completely ignoring the bit about the fundamentals) and then I put my skates on... Hmmmm, maybe I am not quite ready yet... or maybe you should start an insurance scheme we can join, lol. Thanks again (S)Katie!

Hello Katie! thanks for this video! I wanted to ask you what types of skates you have or recommend being able to do jumps. I roller skated artistically when I was young, now I am doing it again and I need new skates. I saw there are many brands, indoor, outdoor or dancing but I don't know if they are all good for jumping professionally, what could you recommend? I am in the US, thank you!

If you want to do artistic jumps you’ll need a good supportive well fitting boot and responsive plate. I’d look at professional boots Edea, Risport, Harlic, Riedell and then Roll-Line plates.

Thank you so much. Needed this. Can you please do a Mohawk jump? Have you heard of this type of jump?
@Skatie

I’ve heard of a Mohawk turn but not a Mohawk jump? I think it’s referred to as a c turn now instead of using a cultural name.

@@Skatie I never heard of it either. A coach from Canada teaches what is called a Star Program and one the skills is a Mohawk Jump. I asked her to show me. Its basically doing a Mohawk but in the flow of a Jump.

Hi. These are a custom setup of Risport dance boots on a roll-line dance plate. A similar beginner skate would be the rookie artistics.
