Nothing beats the 260 as an all around workhorse in the shop. Have had one since 1975 and the poor case has needed multiple repairs.

I have one Simpson 260 with that kind of "inverted banana" plug and I did buy some connectors for it from China. It is working OK with those connectors that make the inversion of the plug to a normal banana plug. Nice work, thanks for your videos.

Great video - I've recently acquired a Simpson 260-8P myself... decided to buy original Simpson test leads (ouch!). Speaking of 'ouch', can you tell us what isolation transformer/variac you use in your lab? Do you use a 1:1 isolation transformer and plug a variac into the secondary side for 0-240V AC isolated variability, or does your transformer contain a variac function built-in? 73 de M0NJX, Matt

Oh, ... is it needed to calibrate the 'pull-out'-tool (the hammer) exactly to 300gr.(+/- 0.01gr.) ? Does a 200gr. instrument do the same work? Will the end-deflection of the meter alter, when I used the wrong pull-out tool? How many ounces are this in the imperial messurments? May I use one of the new electrical powered srewdriver too, to work succsesfully on that device? Will the accuracy stay inside the given tolerances, the manufacturer of the 'Simpson-Meter' will see here? May I loose my warranty, by altering the meter that way? (Sorry, but I coun't resist, ... ! ) Lieber Stefan, konnte mir den Witz nicht verkneifen, ... , da sehr viele amerikanischen OM's (gelegentlich auch ältere Britische oder Australische 'Mit-Funker'), immer auf ihren 'alten imperialen Maß-Einheiten' bestehen, und nichts mit metrischen SI-Einheiten anfangen können. Obwohl diese logischer und einfacher zu 'handhaben' sind! Siehe auch einen sehr traurigen Bericht, einer durch 'falsche Umrechnung' abgestürzten Rakete der NASA, im letzten Jahrtausend.
