Lol.. as an avid rock seeker I can assure you that you can't just go outside with a shovel in florida.. you have to know where to go.. the top 5-30ft of "top soil" in florida is sand.. and don't think you'll hit the creeks and rivers, lakes and ponds.. no rock.. I've spent 100s of hours looking, so I'm not surprised at Ocala man asking where to find Ocala chert.. makes perfect sense to me.. lmao. Great video sir..!! Keep'em coming..!!

I'd like to fill the back of my truck level once a year of 2or3 types of material and I'd be happy. That would be enough for myself and send a few buddy's some. I just may do that soon. Also I remembered my Grandmother still has her big nice kiln. We use to do ceramics together. Paint glaze and fire the different things. She said I could have it once she's passed so hopefully a long time from now but one day I'll have my own kiln. It's bigger than a 55 gallon drum. That seems excessive for what amount of rock I go thru. I may just sell it or may be try to do some ceramics again. I was pretty good at painting Native American type things and horses. Cake holders that look like cakes with strawberrys on em. You name it I've painted or glazed it.

I think a lot of us who enjoy this type of content as far as flint knapping or archaeology don’t take into consideration the mental aspect of the knappers . Like you said if they are in a region where they’re being pursued or the food source is scarce they had to make do with what they had , imagine having to knap without eating for 3 days and in 105 degree heat .

Yeah...I believe that's called hyperfocus (my major ADHD symptom). Great for individual tasks, but hinders everything else. As a PhD student I could sit and write for 18hrs a day, I can exercise for 4 hrs straight, or spend all 14hrs of daylight gardening.... But heaven forbid I have to multitask. Hurts my brain and nothing gets done.

Sorry away for 2 weeks. Surely when you are making points to hunt or for battle, all you need it something that works, they don’t have to be symmetrical, pretty or very thin, most post novice knappers can produce something that works in less than an hour and dare I suggest our predecessors were 3 or 4 times as fast if not faster, even if they were injured or ill, after all their life and the group depended on them. We need motivation because we are hobbyists, there is little pressure on us as we strive to make a pretty point in most cases for display, imho I don’t think we can transfer our baggage problems back in time.
