Small Caliber Arms Review

2 жыл бұрын

Just going by a picture sent to me by Santee ‪@ArizonaGhostriders‬, I'm going to attempt to make a similar holster for my 1851 Navy. Made just like a traditional "Slim Jim" style holster, except the upper half is covered in a fringed suede and adorned with 2mm seed beads for a traditional Native American look-ish.
Much of my leather and other assorted tools have been purchased at Weaver Leather Supply: www.weaverleat...
2mm Seed Beads Amazon: amzn.to/3Hjgspb
120pcs Bronze Nailhead Round Dome Studs Amazon: amzn.to/39mOk8g

Excellent work. I guess now I have to do some beadwork to mitigate my guilt!

@@SmallCaliberArmsReview larger beads, are easier to work with, take less time and fewer holes in the leather, and test the patience less…. Just sayin’.

@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ using the small ones has really taught me to have more patience than I used to, plus they look better I think.

Hello Richard, nice video and holster! Thanks for sharing the experience on making one like this, I always liked that kind of holster and your looks very good! "Sometimes you need an outfit to go with your holster, especially with Cowboy guns!" I definitely agree!!

When you got to the gluing part I was like, how is he going to sew the tab on the back… then I got to the part where we found out how. Oh well, looks good in the finished form

Nice job. I might try one myself. If I do, I think I will also stitch a piece of suede in with the welt so it will have fringes down the edge as well as the skirt. I've never done any bead work either, but I really like the look on this one.

An here I thought you were the leather master, aka the guru of Tandy, the god of bovine, lol. No I know your human, just like the rest of us, but you do good work, an not bad for your first time doing beading. Maybe you could take a toothpick an put a dab of epoxy glue under the beads that want to twist, just a thought to hold them in place where there stressed. Never tried beading myself, but your a better man than I am for giving it a go. Thx for the vid Richard

Thanks William! Ha! I have other holsters that I screwed up, I just didn't do videos on them yet! I'm just going to leave it like it is so I can have a reminder of what not to do. Ge your glasses out if you want to try beading, them things is tiny! Thanks again for watching! P.S. you forgot the Wizard of Weaver! Lol!

@SmallCaliberArmsReview

Just guessing JimE, since it was split up over a couple weekends, I'd say about 10 hours of actual work. Probably more but the next one will hopefully be better and faster.

Good looking project. Are you gonna put the two holsters on the same belt despite the holster difference, or does each holster get its own belt? Looking forward to the final results…
