We have been experimenting with using 18xx.games to play more 18xx games and maybe get them onto the channel easier. Tonight is our first public attempt at it, so hopefully you enjoy the 5-player play-through with Edward, Felix, Martin F., James, & Alyssa. Enjoy and let us know what y'all think!

Although not an applicable thing in the first round, the reason to not buy all 5 shares in a later parliamentary round is if you need to sell down some other shares to afford the last 2 shares of the new company. The only reason I've ever been able to imagine "starting" a parliamentary company and then not floating it would be to preserve an incredibly lucrative route from being tokened out near the end of the game.

I enjoyed the streamed online play. I think Edward has to work hard as "producer" to ensure that the audience gets the right "view" of proceedings. Experience will hopefully make that better. I am absolutely with Felix wrt to playing online synchronously and with video presence. It's the only way I play online these days.

@@Heavycardboard my biggest brain burn that shouldn't be there is tying player names with their online monikers. it is not at all apparent that you are felixthecat (with felix playing), or alyssa is mountain hawk from just looking at the screen.

@@Jos_V I just realized I can change my screen name in the profile -- I'll try to remember to update it to AlyssaG before future streams. (Mountainhawk is a reference to my college alma mater)

@Heavycardboard I don't know how your broadcasting suite works, nor whether 18xx.games would support this, but what I'd like is for Edward to have two browser tab/window/thingy open. One shows the map, properly scrolled on the screen. The second shows Edward's screen during his turn. When it's not Edward's turn we see the map (or maybe some other "game view" tab if something different is being discussed). When it is Edward's turn, we see his screen as he works through his turn. That way, Edward can jump around on his screen while reviewing his position when it's not his turn, and he can do so without distracting the viewers, who will still be watching the "game view" tab. Does that make sense?

I feel like I'm with Martin on this, even though I've enjoyed the videos - I think I'd very much prefer viewing than actually playing. It feels too much like there are options, but with too many pitfalls and those pitfalls only become obvious with at least one play, perhaps more. e.g. Martin ending up having to merge without running one company that round - what seemed like the best option out of the bad ones available, but one that still felt like a bad move, caused by not appreciating the way to avoid getting caught in that predicament.
