Planning a trip to the Cotswolds? This ultimate guide includes the top 19 things to do in the Cotswolds in England plus 13 pretty Cotswolds villages you must visit...
My personal favourite thing to do was visiting Broadway Tower.
Here are the 19 Best things to do in the Cotswolds, England
1. Castle Combe - The ‘prettiest village in England’.
2. Arlington Row - Located in Bibury, this quaint village is famous for its row of 14th-century weavers cottages.
3. Burford - A stunning medieval town located on the River Windrush with gorgeous views of the countryside.
4. Bourton-on-the-Water - A river-side village nicknamed the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ and home of the Model Village.
5. Upper Slaughter - A ‘Doubly thankful’ and picturesque village completely untouched for over a century.
6. Lower Slaughter - Home to honey-coloured homes and a 19th-century flour mill with water wheel
7. Broadway - Dubbed the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’ and home to the iconic folly Broadway Tower
8. The Rollright Stones - The site of Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic stone monuments
9. Sudeley Castle - Resting place of the Catherine Parr, the last of Henry’s VIII’s six wives.
10. Snowshill - Filming location in Bridget Jones’ Diary and home to Snowshill Manor.
11. Stow-on-the-Wold - The highest town in the Cotswolds and location of the last important battle of the English Civil War took place.
12. Painswick - A gorgeous town of steeply winding streets and dubbed the ‘Queen of the Cotswolds’
13. Tetbury - The Cotswolds most royal village
14. Chipping Campden - Famous for its elegant terraced High Street
15. Blenheim Palace - Located in Woodstock, this is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill
16. Moreton-in-Marsh - Gateway to the Cotswolds and home to the Curfew Tower and White Hart Royal Hotel where King Charles stayed.
17. Batsford Arboretum - 56-acres of trees and shrubs from around the world
18. Bourton House Garden - Home to award-winning gardens surrounding an 18th century Manor House
19. Sezincote Estate and Garden - For a taste of India, visit Sezincote Estate for its Hindu and Muslim inspired architecture, perfectly landscaped gardens and pavilion.

P.S. Please forgive my verbal typo at the beginning, I meant to say the Cotwolds are located in south-west England, not south-east. Which of these places are you excited about the most? My personal favourite thing to do was visiting Broadway Tower. Check out my full Cotswolds guide here bit.ly/CotswoldsBestVillages

Hi thank you for this amazing video. I live in South Africa. Staying in an English village in the Cotswolds has been my dream since forever & my husband & I were going to do this when he retired. Unfortunately he passed away this month (March 2023) but I'd love to visit anyway in memory of him. Your video was super helpful regarding transport links from London etc. Again, thank you so much for this.

It's a good thing when videos like these INSPIRE you to visit a place, and quite another amazing plus, for them to inspire you to REVISIT. Great job once again. Loved this.

This is such a well done video. You really get a feel for the Cotswolds and your information was just enough and so well delivered. None of the flashy nonsense and overuse of drone footage for the sake of drone footage that dominates. You should be very proud of this, and I am very grateful to your effort and information 🌼 edit: I also loved the etymological break downs 🌼

Don’t forget Cirencester, Capital of The Cotswolds. Cirencester includes a fabulous Parish Church in The Market Place and the Abbey Grounds behind, a Roman Amphitheatre 15 min walk from town centre and Bathurst Estate with acres of beautiful grounds and woodlands to walk around and Corinium Museum from bronze age to present day!

Any chance you can do a video on the County of Shropshire ? Very historic towns such as Bridgnorth/Much Wenlock/ Shrewsbury/ Church Stretton, to name a few.

Hi! From Bangkok, Thailand. I love watching your excellent VDO and the way you explain details. I visited London once long time ago but in the future I certainly go the most loviest place of Cotswald (sorry, wrong spelling of this place). Kindly advise the best travel agency. Thanks.

Beautifully shot and edited. Professionally narrated. Gives us great information for our visit. One minor correction. You said your tour was travelling north to south. I think it's actually south to north. You must be from down-under! 😊

Excellent video.. thanks a lot for the information. How long it takes to visit all these 19 places.? How many we can cover in a single day?

Thank you so much 😊 I’m very happy to hear that. The Cotswolds is a large place, so you’re best to cover it in sections. With a car you can see a lot in 1 say but it depends what you want to do in each place. To help you plan, here is my guide bit.ly/CotswoldsBestVillages

There are trains to a lot of these places but can take much longer than a car . You really do need a car to get around the Cotswolds properly . It's a beautiful area with lots to explore .

Hi, Great video... Interested in stow in the wold, chipping campden, and lower slaughter for next June. Are those areas close together from what I see they look within minutes of each other.. Thanks

Hi, Cotswold resident here. Yes they're all close to each other. The Slaughters are only a mile or two from Bourton on the Water, Stow is about 6 miles north of Bourton. Campden is about 6 or 7 miles north of Stow. All of those are in Gloucestershire although at least three other counties have areas of the Cotswolds in them. I agree with the narrator that Chipping Campden is a jewel although I like all of them in different ways. Try to get off the beaten track if you can, visit some more out of the way villages and do some country walks. There's a huge network of public footpaths all over England and you can get walking routes from any tourist info shop. The footpaths offer access over private farmland etc. Have a great visit

Loved you video, thank you. I’d love to get your advice on a planned Cotswold trip I’d like to do next year. I love cool to cold weather, so I’d like to spend about 5 to 7 nights using public transport to explore the prettiest of the Cotswold villages, combined with a couple of nights in either Oxford or similar larger town. If I wanted to stay in the most beautiful of the villages with the most gorgeous photographic opportunities, plus a variety of trails to walk and cute shops and cafes to explore, which would be your top 5 village choices to spend a night in each please? Is October a month free from snow, as although I love cold weather, I find it easier to get out and fully explore a place when there is NO snow!! I look forward to your advice please. Cheers from Australia

Hello! Oh, this is going to be a godsend! We are planning a trip May 2023. 🥰🥰🥰So, do you think it’s possible to do the Cotswolds in three full days? Besides number 17 and 19, we would love to do all that you have suggested! Is that reasonable with a car? And also, where would you think the most centrally located place to stay would be in the Cotswolds to be able to visit most things pretty easily?

Hi Lisa, I've lived in the Cotswolds for nearly 30 years. I think you can have a good visit in 3 days with a car. The entire area is about 100 miles long (from Chipping Campden to Bath) and not much more than about 25 to 30 wide. The majority is in Gloucestershire with areas also in Oxfordshire , Wiltshire and Warwickshire. Pretty much all she describes here is Gloucestershire apart from Broadway, Castle Combe and Burford. My favourite Cotswold town is Chipping Campden but they're all beautiful in their own way. Have a lovely time in May (a beautiful and very green time to visit here if the weather is kind!).
Prettiest Cotswold villages you should visit!
