Hi Pat. Fantastic job. Enjoyed the video . I had a little bit of sadness at the end but very happy for you. You actually achieved what i wanted to do to her when I first acquired her. I was told that she was in working order and ready to sail. She was bought for me by my wife and sons as a Fathers Day present. Bought sight unseen. When i first got to visit and see her my heart dropped. I was committed as money had changed hands. I spent the next 2 years trying to do odd bits during the little spare time I had on weekends I was not working. I then realised that I was not seeing much of my family. After a very brief discussion with a very understanding and accommodating wife we moved the boat into the front garden. I have some pictures of this if you would like to add to the portfolio. She was in my front garden for about 10 years. I did little bits when I could, busy work schedule including weekend callouts. I took the odd week off now and then to try to make a bit more headway. Finally it got to the point where I was not proceeding and actually things seemed to be going backwards as work I had done now needed doing again. I lost heart and also faith in myself. I asked several people would they like to take on a project. I enquired about boat salvage, I now know where pirates work. Eventually I had a few enquiries, one seemed very positive, but his wife was diagnosed with cancer, if he is reading this I hope she is doing ok and wish her well. Then one day a very friendly chap came by whilst my wife and I were cleaning our motorcycles. He asked about the boat. I offered to him that if he wanted it then it was his. Pat that chap of course was you. I am proud to be one of your friends and extremely pleased with what you have done with Serenity. She looks great sails well. looks good in the pictures and video and is a credit to you, your hard work and your dedication. My sadness at the end of the video was just a realisation of what I wanted to achieve but couldn't, But I do feel uplifted watching the video and hearing you talk about her. A big well done from me.

Hi Bill, thanks for putting up the back story for the boat also many thanks for giving me the boat in the first place, i had a lot of fun getting her ready for sailing again and it also introduced me to a lot of great people who helped me on the boat and best of all i learnt how to sail, your a good man, thank you

I'm not usually one to comment on a video but you really did a fantastic job restoring her and making this video. The progress; showing the stages and dedication and the choice of soundtrack complete the video. Certainly, a fine combination, rare outside of dedicated documentaries. 10/10 Wishing you happy sailing, from a fellow boater, who's vessel is under construction.

Hi, thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching, to be fair i had a bit of help and advice from other sailors, i was going to keep her but just as i finished the work i was offered another boat, the kent motor sailer in the background, i am currently working on her and there will be another video, the old wooden boat under the tarp is a sad thing, abandoned for a lot of years, some locals wanted to chop it up for fire wood, i got the old penta md-1 engine working and will make her into a open utility boat as the hull is now sound, might do a video on that. Thanks again, see you out there

What a wonderful video, a lovely old sailboat saved and beautifully recommissioned with an immense amount of hard work and an eye for detail. I wouldn't have been put off by how she first appeared, because with the hull, cabin and cockpit fibreglass being in good condition, the rest is straightforward. Lengthy, hard work and expense, but straightforward nonetheless. And what a transformation you achieved, outstanding. Subscribed.

Hi, thanks for watching, the lightship is a hub for a charity that teachers kids to sail, the 1960s wooden boat under the tarp was going to be chopped up for fire wood, it was in a bad way, the hull is sound and i got the 1960s single cylinder pre volvo penta engine working so i am making an open utility boat out of whats left, i am currently working on the kent motor sailer that is behind the wooden boat which ill will be keeping, there will be another video, Thanks again

Impressive boat, I have a 1964 Pearson Commander 26' that I'm trying to restore. Your boat reminds me a lot of my own and your video gives me a lot of inspiration and motivation to see my boat get completed and have many hours of adventures on the bay and ocean. I'm curious to know why you chose the color black on the top side, I like the color but have been told by many boat owners that its a no no because of the heat absorption from the sun and the burn injuries from its hot surfaces on skin. But in all I like and appreciate small sailboats because these are easier to singlehandedly sail and find berthing most anywhere in the world. Thank you for your video.
@patwade
@patwade Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching and for the comment, the reason i chose the black and white colour scheme is mostly aesthetic, my van is black and white so is my motor bike (see saphira video) and here in the uk it doesnt get that hot also as you said there are not that many boats that colour, currently working on a 27 foot kent motot sailer that will also be the same, thanks again, see you out there
