This is made for my father. He can drop coyotes with it and record video to show his buddies. He isn’t going to drop 5k+ for some sort of NVG set up. I’m more interested in the thermal offering personally. I think there is a place for this product in the market. I hope one day tech will progress far enough digital NVG can compete with analog.

Seemed like a cool concept at Shot last year, seems like a functional added capability with this release. $1200 is certainly a much more attractive entry fee to the NV game. I think what we really need to see with this is a run at a night time brutality shoot. I do think that using this to shoot drones is a massive selling point. Not sure of the range, but those drones were low profile and hitting them at all under NV is a serious selling point!

The digital NV world is on a come up for sure. This and the thermal they have I think are going to be the fly in the ointment that finally kick starts big progress in the digital night vision space. The DNVG tubes, while not a 100% replacement for analog, are getting incrementally better all the time. I think in five years or less we'll see dual tube DNVG that can compete solidly with analog. With the advantage of being SIGNIFIGANTLY less expensive.

The reason digital NV is never going anywhere is that it can not multiply photons like an analog tube can. Sure you can keep making bigger and more expensive CMOS sensors, but that's only ever going to see the photons that fall on it, and relay them to you. Meanwhile a tube will turn 1 photon into 70,000 photons effortlessly.

Watch market started to crumble last year…this means prices are starting to get reasonable again…still a little ways to go, but we are not far away from getting the latest release subs at or below $10k in the secondary markets and at release prices and in stock at ADs with no wait.

Without the flares or lights giving you enough ambient lighting would this still pick up the targets? Pure nighttime no back lights? Also if so how far does it reach 50m at best?

id be really curious how a 3x magnifier behind this or the thermal version , would look with the sight set on 1x? i know its gonna get grainy the more digital zoom added , but would it maintain optimal clarity at 1x with a analog flip up magnifier maybe??

Very interesting, been watching a lot of reviews of these. But oh lord do I have questions. For defensive uses does this thing illuminate your face in the dark? What kind of battery life are you getting? I'd love to see one torture tested (on a bolt or pump gun to see if it can take sustained recoil and function/hold zero). Would active IR illumination improve performance? (many serious weapon light manufacturers make inexpensive IR filters for their lights, might be worth investigating).

This is literally a miniaturized atn scope, minus one shot zero and a better hud with a ballistic calculator, wind direction, all that good stuff. Heres my question to you guys before you release the video on the thermal version...since even thermal monoculars are digital, can you wear analog nv, like a pvs-14 and passively aim through the thermal version to get fusion?

9:15 so kinda like staring at your phone in the dark while laying on your bed at night , you definitely want to adjust the brightness 🔆 so that it doesn’t strain your eyes.

I got to see one of these in October at an industry day for the public (shout-out aim surplus) and was blown away. Anyone who thinks these are only good for like 100y and in is wrong for the thermal version. Too bad if you don't like the CCP owned holosun, this is the future people want and they brought it to us. If only there was an American owned competitor that would charge similar pricing. Pipe dream.

This is going to be a much bigger deal when it's combined with a decent quality thermal sensor. IMO, NV is never going anywhere in the digital space, but with thermal, the sky is the limit, and the cost is going to continue to fall since it's approachable for most electronics manufacturers to get into.

Two problems for the drs-nv so far is that the production version does not work with cr123a batteries nor does it come with the adapter that was specified on their website. The shake awake feature on the nv part of the optic also does not work. The red dot part has shake awake but the manual is wrong and the nv does not turn back on when you move the optic. Know these before you buy one. None of these sponsored videos tell you this.

I run a 1.5x thermal on my rifle. This NV Dot at the 45° would be a total package for my setup. Yes my rifle would look like a Swiss Army knife but man would it work.

Holosun is a direct subsidiary of a state-backed Chinese industrial optic and laser manufacturer Huanic Corp. they manufacture optics for the PLA and in turn your purchases directly supports the PLAs Optics and weapons development. It’s not the same as but my iPhone bro. There is a direct link to the PLA.

To me it is a toy with little practical value. They do make actual useful versions of this kind of product like the Iray FAH 25, with a 640 core processor but they also cost well over $5K. To me a thermal needs to allow for positive target ID at a range greater then gen 3 nods or what is the point?

Its a cool little thing for sure, but im just not sure why everyone is riding Holosuns nuts on this. For less price, you can can get a Wraith 4K Mini day night scope, and it blows this thing out of the water. The Holosun is so stupid grainy bordering on useless when zoomed in. The 4K Mini is well, basically 4K. I have over 700 rds on a 5.56 build, and the thing has not lost zero, and its crystal clear even zoomed in. Im not pushing for the Mini 4K.......a good set of NODs and a DBAL are better, but jeez, this Holosun is far behind the competition

A sionyx pro is a far more capable setup than this. 99% of time under nods wont be spent shooting. And like stated, whenever your using this to search, your pointing your rifle at someone or something. This optic should come after your primary NV setup.
