Here is a new video !!
This is a vintage razor blade sharpener made around 1920 by the American company Twinplex Stamping Co. It's the G200 model.
The original color was hammer grey, I decided to do a satin black / mirror polish finish. I hope you'll like that version that was produced back then.
It must have been very useful to have one in your package :!
The leather parts were missing, hopefully I had a very old jacket from the 80's in my closet :)
Please watch till the end to see this beautiful mini razor blade sharpener in action !
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.
Thanks a lot for watching !

Beautiful work! You make it look easy. Maybe this sounds weird, but I was glad to see the nickel plating being done. It always bugs me to see someone polish a bit of carbon steel, then just leave it that way as if it won't rust. So here's a tidbit of trivia about the blade inside the sharpener: Wilkinson Sword produced razor blades like this one between 1962 and 1978. Otherwise, they were mostly known for swords, bayonets, and commando knives. Between 1903 and 1916, Wilkinson Sword also made motorcycles, but they didn't really catch on. It's an interesting company to read about!

You always find unique items to restore and with a history behind them. It was a nice work and video. The only thing is that you put the leather on the other side but I guess no one will use that anymore , so it’s fine. It looks gorgeous and you chose new colors more better than it was before 👍👌 cheers mate !

honestly, i think tresuring and caring for our material things is the norm in history, the actual attitude of buying five or six very mediocre razors a month to trow away after using like 3 times is the weird thing in perspective.

Okay i have watched all of your videos from oldest to newest. I have some questions: Do you change your glass beads for every project? It seems like you are always adding them. Why do you not use pickling for all items? Is there certain materials it wont work on? It seems like that is the way more efficient process. What happened to the laser??? And most importantly, why are you not churning out videos constantly and listing the items you refurbish for sale? You could be monetizing this channel way more for yourself and this hobby. Its absolutely fascinating and YOUR restored toys would generate a sizable profit since you can set the prices yourself. Everyone will want their hands on a Fabrick Restored Trainset from the 20-40s. They for real are super neat. Have you considered building a toy from scratch? I think by now you could do it by memory and create one way better! That one would be a one of kind priceless piece of art. Food for thought.

Neat contraption! Nice work on the restoration. I'm surprised you could sharpen that razor with the Twinplex. There's no compound or abrasive right? It seems like it would just strop the edge, polishing it and removing burrs, and not actually put a new edge on a dull blade - but then your results say otherwise.

Overall well done. For future reference, the leather you used looks like chrome tanned leather. For something like this veg tanned leather would be best and the flesh side or rougher side would be the side exposed to the blade. The grain side or smooth side will not be as effective on the blades. Nice touch changing the color. I understand wanting to put your own spin on it. No pun intended.😁
