When you mix B-soda and vinegar together doesn't the one just end up destroying and neutralizing the other?

The loco was made by Fleischmann and the key by Märklin. The loco did not have a separate tender.

I didn’t knew that in 1950 powder-coating was common. And at 7:14 you actually powder-coated the burning-chamber-Parts?!

You have many skills, from chemistry to precision tooling. I wonder if you could recommend books or any other source to learn the art of restoration. Of course, I am aware that you are a grand master by now and such degree of knowledge and expertise can't be found on a book (or many books) but could be a starting point.

Loving restoration, a true artist! I am sure that the device is now in far better condition than it was out from the factory. Luxurious finishes, is a little gem now.

Huh. Seems like someone took it apart before. The bottom stones are installed the wrong way around in the beginning (and the before shot). The high edge facing inwards.

Great small project what a great find !, I did notice however that the sharpening blocks were put back differently to how they were originally is that on purpose? Originally on the top half the blocks slope towards the middle and the bottom half they slope out towards the edge but on reassembly they both slope inwards.

Great job, my uncle used to have one of these and he would put the loop end on something solid, hold the beaded end, and move the sharpener with his other hand. Much easier than trying to hold and pull both ends.

Attention. You placed two of the four "sharpening stones" differently from before. They were arranged with one side pointing up and outwards, and the other pointing up and inwards. Great job, mate.
