Dad-strength is a real thing. I was always amazed at how strong my dad was for a guy that never worked out. Single-handedly pushed a 1963 4x4 truck off of me after it rolled onto me - saved my life with his dad-strength!

I was watching Big JR crank that thing and getting tired....like "JR put the camera down and help yer daddy..." Then I saw JR try and crank that thing and not even get close to where his dad came and thought - "Yep, the old guys can still whip the kids even today." Unfortunately the quality of the great American working class dad / teacher is fading away. Your dad is a dying breed JR...appreciate him every chance you get.

I try to explain to my wife the simple joy and satisfaction from seeing any "will it start" videos on yt. And a shout out to the crappy fill spouts on gas cans these days! Supposed to be "safe" but you spill more than you get in the tanks!

Probably one of my favorite videos in a while, that is not to say that your other videos aren't great. Love seeing old tech/mech being restored. Also, thanks for doing your best with the audio and video angles. As a viewer, I know we take a lot for granted and easily forget that there is actual work that goes into producing a polished video. Hope to see the tractor driving around in a future video. I also thought it was a bit funny to see your pops pop like a party popper when his business cards went flying everywhere.

I have been watching a few folks restoring old tractors! Its really good to see some of these old monsters come to life!

This was great. Looks like dad was having a absolute ball playing with that tractor. And when it started and ran, that made dads day. It must have been fun participating in that revival. It’s amazing how some of these old lumps will start and run with just some fiddling. And that you can still get parts for them is incredible.

As a kid I had an uncle who had a large ranch .He had al kinds of stuff like this including a combine it was huge I was 12 at the time and i was in awe of it i would crawl all over it learning how it did what it did .Of course he would yell at me get off that thing you'll get hurt Damn it .well eventually I got him to let me try to start all of his old farming equipment .I spent one whole summer tearing into the tractors and all the things that go with them fixing and cleaning all of it up to me it was great fun to make all that old stuff work again .Finally i got him to let me tackle that old combine all those belts and wheels and cutter heads and conveyor belts .I spent 2 weeks cleaning and lubing and freeing things up .now you have to remember this thing had sat for so long it had sunk into the ground almost a foot but the day finally came to try to start this monster it took me 2 days of trying every thing i knew to get it going .to no avail .on the third day my uncle comes out to see how i was doing I told him I was about to throw in the towel ,He laughed reached into his pocket an handed me a small part and asked me if i knew what it was for ,I thought for a minute then told him nope I got no clue he chuckled and walked to the engine and mounted it to the magneto then told me to start er up sure enough with a huff and puff of smoke it took right off .I climbed off and we stood back together and just watched it run for a minute or three then my uncle who was in his 70's climbed on board and started pushing pedals and pulling levers and this muli ton monster came to life and climbed out of it's grave .like a dinosaur waking up .I was in awe . my uncle shut it down and came over to me and said ok you got it running now leave it alone . The next summer I was back thinking I was going to be so much fun working with all these old tractors and other pieces of equipment but when i got there it was all gone every piece of it .I was now 15 years old and i was devastated .I go inside and asked where did it all go I was afraid he had scraped it all after all this stuff was 50 plus years old .but no he told me he had sold it all and hade gotten a good price for it .Then said come see what i bought with the money .so we got to the barn with my head hanging low bummed out thinking about all the things i was going to do that summer .we get to the barn go inside and i see this old car A 1956 ford two door and it looked brand new .He asked me well what do you think of that I stared for i minute then asked him why did you get that you don't drive anymore .Well i might not drive but your going to need a car soon enough so we though it would be a good wat to say thank you for being here and helping around the place then handed me the keys .that was in 1974 . I still miss that car almost as much as my Aunt and uncle .

My dad would have called you a "Candy Ass" for the way you cranked that tractor. Your dad reminds of my dad and for the same reasons. An amazing mechanic and engineer.

Ive been hoping to one day see one of the old McCormick tractors! McCormick was my grandmas side of the family! Happy to see it runs!!!

Back in the early 1960’s my dad got a 1937 F14 Mcormic Deering tractor that was left in a field for at least 25 years. He brought it home and the engine was locked up. He poured Marvel mystery oil in the cylinders and let it sit for 2 weeks. Then used a wood dowel and hammer to get the pistons loose. New rings and some honing it was ready to start. My Dad cranked an cranked it but no pop. So he installed an aircraft inertia starter on the crank end. Spun the revs up and bingo! It fired up. He fully restored the tractor and added a home made plow. Dad used it to plow snow for 10 years. He later gave it away to a friend. I never saw the machine again. I would love to see one in person today but never have come across anyone owning an F14.

Your Dad is like that old timer in the movies, sharing stories, knowledge, and hands-on experience with the young uns EXCEPT he's not old ... he sure showed you how to crank ;) He doesn't talk with a KZfaq voice and I could hear every word ... I wanted to hear what he was saying. I hope he's got time to advise you now and then. You sure learned a lot from him.
