Beautiful restoration job! Almost to good to use! Most of these were scrapped when newer type of harvesters came along.

Would the canvas be painted as you have it? Absolutely beautiful work. If possible, I will be restoring IH reaper binder this winter.

would like to donate your missing spring if your still in need of one. have one half grown in a tree and far from restoration quality. excellent piece.

yes I would be interested in a spring. I also need the knotter mechanism that is underneath the boards at the discharge end of the binder ( if you happen to to have it).

We are working on one of these (looks the same) and are looking for the correct color 'white' paint. Case IH says they list two shades - can you tell me what the paint number was that you used? Thanks.

Outstanding job on the restoration....I agree, looks better than new. I am an old retired guy, not a farmer but enjoy making wood projects that move (automata). I'm currently trying to make a wood model of the mechanism to tie the bales. I have the part to tie the bales working but am at a loss as to how the string is held in place while the tie is taking place. I'm assuming the corn binder uses the "Bill hook" thing that square balers do to tie the knot. Also, what is it that pulls the knot tight? I believe on a square hay baler the hay is compressed and releasing the bale is what tightens the knot. The corn binder does not appear to compress the bale, or at least a limited amount. Is there any way I could get a close-up photo of the mechanism to hold the twine while the tie is taking place? Thanks for any help you can provide

The Massey Harris Binder had packers that compressed the Sheaf, the spring tension on the trip arm made them tighter. I only know this from observing my Dad, we cut wheat oat and Barley in the Uk up to 1968.
