Per Rust-Johnson-Shirley, this posted track was actually from an Al Mitchell session, with bandleader Zollo’s name used as a pseudonym on the Bluebird release.
Transferred from 78rpm Bluebird B-5415 - Armful O’ Sweetness (Hill) by Leo Zollo and his Benjamin Franklin Orchestra, vocal by Dick Robertson, recorded in NYC March 16, 1934 .

Thank you so much for your uploads, this kind of music gets me through my day, specially the late 20s and 30s. I learned the foxtrot to your music. And my partner and I love to slowdance together, it really eases from the stress of the world, thanks again!

As per usual with the end of these, you always put a nice capstone on it with a very fitting song for the end of it. No one does more work on here than you, so it's a break well earned.

@@the78prof72 recently I looked into your work on AnotherProf, and I'm surprised that you are in 1973 so quickly. Also speaking of that channel, could you check the restrictions on Draggin The Line - Tommy James in the '71 Hits Archive? Debating using some audio for something, but I'm afraid of it not being available in some crucial countries.

Started 1974 today, but initially doing only the #1's & #2's for 1972 to 1975, after which I'll go back and fill in the other major hits for those years. Checking Tommy James....there are no countries shown as blocked on that post.

I always associate this cute number with that "Harmful Little Armful," Fats Waller, as he recorded it at his first "And His Rhythm" session. Dick, though professional in delivery, can't quite achieve that same degree of exuberance manifested by Fats. Nevertheless, this side is quite good, with some pep finally creeping back into pop in this year. The tenor solo, guitar rhythm and brushes swing it!

Dick Robertson was a prolific vocalist of the period much like his contemporary, Chick Bullock. He could sing every kind of song. He made some good records for Decca late in the '30s backed by the cream of jazz musicians signed to the label at the time. Check out, "Blossoms on Broadway," for example, here on the Prof's channel: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g9qWlKmelZPXm40.html

A great snappy rendition. The tenorist makes me think of the unidentified saxist who rips it up à la Pat Davis in Tiger Rag during a Freddy Rich short from 1935 (which also features a stellar Bunny Berigan). Tone and licks are exactly the same. Perhaps someone knows who it might be. (I thought it might have been Dick Clark, but he was balder than the guy in Rich's short.)
