This has been wrong for over 80 years. It is pronounced "pango pango".

Thank you for putting right an intergenerational wrong. As _palagi_ is also pronounced *paalangi,* they (the palagis) should have known better. Btw, the pango is our trusted friend when unclogging pipes.

Pago Pago, the capital of American Samoa. How is it pronounced with an 'N' in the word when one doesn't exist?

@@erichuffstutler9734 The *n* is a so-called _invisible letter._ Think of how someone from Portugal pronounces _felicidade_ (dahd; silent e) as opposed to a Brazilian (dahdshi; invisible sh-sound).

By golly...I read that very fact on one of those tear-away calendars that had a trivia item every day. It was about 1985. It showed us how we oughta be pronouncing it if we go there, or even if we don't. I should maybe. I've been to Bali, but not A.S. yet.
