I live in an area with miles of old coal mines. They're not cool, they're not interesting, they're not full of cool old shit like the hard rock mines out west. They're nearly all an uncomfortably thin layer of sandstone below mudstone layers that have no structural stability whatever. Coal gas is absolutely lethal, it's not just stale air. You step down a couple feet in a drift and youre sucking non-air as soon as your face drops into that layer of gas where just 5 steps ago you were above it and fine. This is stupid attention seeking behavior, and you'd literally get more attention for jumping off of bridges with about the same risks. This is stupid.
