Pure some diesel all over the track and in the trans and let it sit. I did that to a D6 that was froze up and a year later when i got around to messing with it, It rolled after a little bit of nudging. Long story short, I did get it running and still using it these days. Good luck with the future tear down. I know you'll enjoy driving that Jewel around and working with her. I have faith you can do it.

@@kirk467 Yes sir. I put it in everything. Final drives, clutches, crankcase, trans and drown rusted racks with it. Best way to clean stuff out but not as cheap as it use to be. But still well worth it. Your videos bring back a lot of good memories from my younger days. Thank you for that.

Hi Randy, the design reason the shifter doesn't move is because it has a clutch interlock - the clutch has to be disengaged for the shifter to move, however if the transmission is also all rusted up, that won' thelp : )

I would fill both engines and the trans with diesel fuel and add a quart or two of ATF. Put a breaker bar on the crank and then jack the handle with maechanical jack to a fair amount of tension. Leave it alone for a few months and maybe add a little to the jack pressure. Be patient. It will turn.

Isn't it ironic that you can spend all afternoon digging out a stump and trying to get to move, but use it as a deadhead and it comes right out! That will make some good yard art!

Well done!!! Shes got parts and if you wanted to take on a real project, you could likely get her going, although the tracks are beyond shot. Nice to see a young guy and his Dad working together. Cherish every moment you have with him. Lost mine when I was 20, there's no replacing him. I envy you! BTW- If you ever run across the book "Bulldozer" by Stephen Meader, grab a copy. It's all about a young guy buying a junk D2 sunk in a pond and building a business around it, including a Traxcavator! Read it when I was about 10 and later got my own copy. Good stuff with 1950's morals and ethics, as things SHOULD be!!!!! Also, I appreciate you keeping this family friendly!!!

Were I younger and in better shape, I would jump at the chance to take on this project. First thing is to drain all the cases and fill with kerosene. These are pretty basic. Lots of heavy parts but beating on them isn't always productive. Steven Meader was a good read but there are a lot of technical issues. Switching back and forth between a dozer and Traxcavator is not all that easy. The tractors used with the Traxcavator had an extra roller and there was a solid equalizer bar. There actually was a dozer blade for the Traxcavator that used the unit to lift the blade. Saw one once when I was very young.

24:00 Diesel is probably not even stuck. You're still engaged to the tracks because the transmission is so rusted up. You may have air hammered it into neutral but you still have rust engaging all the gearing back there as well as the main clutch being engaged.

New to your channel and apologize if in my last comment I suggested you were a newcomer to wrenching on this old iron..went back thru your impressive list of videos and it was impressive to see what you have done to date..Amazed by both the Model B & G Allis Chalmers Tractors..my dad had a B and my Uncle had a G and those hold special meaning to me. I learned a long time ago that if I was working with some thing as rusty as that to spray it down with diesel fuel very liberally. Letting it soak in for as long as you can, maybe even a second time. We hand a very old 13 speed transmission about as bad as that. Pulled the shift tower off and dumped in 5 gallons, Let it set for 2 weeks and it made things a lot easier. I've known guys who used vinarger. Try that.

Put a pavilion over it. Pull each package, rebuild as you can. If you get it all done, re-assemble in the garage, back into the original. If a major package can't be built or replaced, you have the other packages for other machines. If all goes well, you'll put it all back together somewhere around retirement ;-)

Knowing how much precision goes into making gear box cogs, I would say that gearbox is well beyond its 'Sell By Date'. Could you press ( /hammer.) each of the valves down..? That would tell you if the head is salvageable.

I wouldn't totally give up on this old crawler yet. Keep it soaking in diesel and oil and you may eventually get it to rolling. It's just going to take some time. Not many of these around so any effort to save it even as just a roller would be worth it.

You can't save them all, but that doesn't mean that you don't at least try to do what you can. Who knows you may come across another one, are something similar in your wonderings, and then you have two things going for you now. One you've learned what n where all the key components are located at, and you have possibly spare parts that might come in handy for you or someone else.. Like the gentlemen said pour some of my blend in on top to preserve the wood, slow the veggies down, and lubricant everything good. I mix atf, old used 15/40 Rotella, and equal parts of diesel together in a old two gallon pump sprayer. Then soak everything down good, just saturate everything possible, and then at the end of summer spray everything down good once more, because the first batch eat it's way into the rust and dirt everything is encased in. The second batch has a head start mow, and can really get in the old joints, and moving components. Well got a thunderstorm moving in on us down here again, so better go check out how much wind is coming in front of this round. Stay safe, and keep up the good work

The loader also requires the 5 roller extended track frame, hard-bar chassis mounts and front PTO drive. It would be a TON of work to swap. And I'd be left with only a pile of parts.

Squatch253 rebuilt D2 5J1113 because the KZfaq algorithm said it produced clicks, likes, and watch minutes. Otherwise, he said from a financial position that it was really should have been a parts unit because of its overall poor condition. 5J1113 seemed to be in much better condition than this D2. Just sayin’. Good luck!
