Look at the steering wheel when he's backing out. Bling, aroni! Plenty of rich guys would pay over 10 g's I bet for a mint one like that to hang on the wall of their car cave. Yes they were virtual rolling works of art. A neighbor when I was a kid had one that was stored in their garage. The father died and the sons who were older than me parked it in there. I remember the car was so long it had to be angled in order to fit, and enable the garage door to open and close, seeing the sons and friends hung out there always door open. Having brews and such. The left rear bumper was almost touching the wall, and the right front towards the right side of a 1 and a half car garage. It wouldn't fit in a 1 car garage. No way. That car was soooo long. Add up the hood length, and from the back of the front seat to the backseats alone and the distance is astonishing. You could play soccer in the passenger area behind the front seats. I remember being in awe of the space. The back of the front seat was like 5 feet away at least from an adults knees sitting back there. I can remember unless just a wee ones imagination, it had an extra couple seats that comes up from the floor? Pretty sure. Almost remember like tables too that come out from somewhere. The extra seats were always down so just remember the immense size of the real estate back there, haha. Sorry for the long rant, but today is the day I found the car. The 1948 Oldsmobile 4 door sedan. I've been curious past 20 years over the make and model of that ole land yacht from back in the day. Today looking at a car site, I saw one that was rough but I recognized it and went on yt with the m m info and BAM! That's the one! All those years I wanted to know because it was so unique. And being a car guy, 63 to 1970 muscle classics, I was unfamiliar with this generation of cars. Gonna search now for them. Pics and vid's cause they are so unique, and I will remember every detail of that interior. And right on! That dashboard is priceless! Just the dashboard in that condish at a special auction for car guys with 10's and hundreds of millions havin some drinks would go for? Could see it going crazy bid wars and get 15, 20 g's. Look real pretty in their car place. Sorry for the long rant, but can tell you know real rolling artwork. Gonna drop a long comment to the owner too, hahaha. Copy and paisting from here, hehe. Cheers mate and good times to you.

Forget restoration as this car needs nothing. Olds and Cadillac were the experimental arms of GM. More Olds's after 1940 had the Hydramatic drive. The dash and steering wheels on GM cars of this era are a work of art. I can't imagine why some people rip it all out for some faceless racing or digital gauges and some weird looking steering wheel. These cars are like living history. Nice seeing those original gauges working!!!

They're only original once. Very nice. Had an uncle that was an Oldmobile man when others were Ford, Chevy or Chrysler men. His first was a '41 98 coupe bought it new when he was only 19 years old. I asked everyone in my family how did he afford it. Finally my uncle that ran around with him when he was single said he ran numbers for the mob on the east side of Detroit. In late '42 he was given the choice of 5 years in prison or join the Navy for the duration. He chose being a sailor. When he mustered out in '46 he bought a new '46 Olds & bought a new Olds every 2 years after that for quite awhile. Great memories.

Thanks. This car will be headed to the RE Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing MI. I’ve donated it with the agreement that it fits in with the museum’s goals and knowing it will be well taken care of.

@@1963mikey Mike, I noticed that when you first starting backing out in your video that you forgot to release the parking brake. Because of the angle of your camera, I couldn't tell if you eventually released it before continuing forward, but I could hear a noise like perhaps you released the parking brake. Yes, or no?

I was looking for a car several years ago to rebuild and I spoke to my aunt about how easy it is to find older cars with low miles. She said that people had cars back then but they still walked when they could. It would be nice if people did that today.

Good day sir. Your car is way more than a car. The dashboard and steering wheel alone, I think would be priceless to car guys with money to burn. That would be the two focal points on the walls of their car/man cave for sure. Hope you can answer this? My neighbor had one back in 60's through the 80's and had to park on an angle in the garage 1 1/2 car garage due to the immense length. That car is too long for the standard 1 car garage back then right? And it has pop up xtra seats and even tables or something like that? Anyway, you have a real gem, and hope you never sell it. And only to me if you would ever part ways with it right? Haha. What a unique gorgeous treasure. I am disappointed you didn't show the immense back area? Even if stuff back there? The most unique back area of any car and you didn't even show a quick peek? Shame. Haha. 1 more question if you respond please. Do you know how many years this exact make and models these were made? And how many produced total? Thank you so much, and good days to you sir.
