Strange attraction to late 4O's & 195O's DeSoto cars...1956 Golden Adventurer being my favorite...there was 1 sitting out rusting in a driveway out in Rocky Point L.I.N.Y. back in the 197O's...

Very nice pretty rare car. Car should shift to high above 20. Needs adj. In low to 2nd at 10. May have wrong oil in trans. Supposed to be 10w not typical manual trans heavy oil. Car pulling means front brakes that have two leading shoes adj wrong. They adj different than non mopars as everyone else has only one leading shoe up front.

It's amazing how sales people bullshit and lie about cars and tell things of just being done when in fact was done some years ago. The only thing that was done since this was my car is the steering wheel, that was the only item that was not done at the time of the rest of the car.

I once had a great 1951 4 door DeSoto years ago. As I remember the hood ornament, it had the head or face only on DeSoto in lucite or some similar material and it lit up when the car lights were on. The overall hood ornament was in chrome, but the face of DeSoto only was in lucite as I remember it. I have not seen this on any of these videos of DeSoto cars and wonder if I imagined it? Does anyone know if the hood ornament on a DeSoto ever had the fact of DeSoto in lucite or some similar material or did I imagine it?

Your memory is correct. I think the 1950 hood ornament was lighted also, although I am not perfectly sure. It was a different ornament similar to the one on this car. But you described the 1951 ornament completely and correctly. The lighted 50's Pontiac ornaments are today highly prized, but no one remembers or cares about the lighted DeSoto ornament.

Nope, I'm wrong. I did some research, and the '50 ornament is similar to the '51. Sorry for the wrong information previously.

The illuminated hood ornament was an optional accessory on both Pontiac and DeSoto. I'm not sue about DeSoto, but Pontiac had it through 1957. In the last year the fender ornaments lit up.

It would have been better had you before driving talked about the fluid drive. You could have put it in gear, foot on the break and let the clutch out to demonstrate exactly what fluid drive was all about. Yes, I'm old enough to have driven fluid drive. This is a feature that individuals such as your self do not share or show. I doubt there was a Chrysler product from the late 30's that didn't have fluid drive. YES, all the different Chrysler types called it something different: The long and short it was all FLUID DRIVE.

Quite the crock of shit, this was my car and therefore I know it was not restored 500 miles ago, Jason is a regular car salesman, full of bullshit and lies. The car is however very excellent and in the exact same condition as I left it .

nor does he know HOW TO DRIVE THE 2 Range semi-automatic (Gyro-Matic was one name Chrysler used). he stared it in LOW range, revved it to 4-5 rpms, didnt know to begin to move in "DRIVE"/range, 3rd, then into 4th at approx 15-25 mp. Yup, all show and little knowledge. Too bad, it was a terrific trans when used properly. MY DAD had it in a 1950 Dodge coronet. It lasted 12 years with never so much as a wrench or touch.
